yeah, apparently it's a straightforward swap deal, ye're getting Dave Warren permanently. i guess we don't need another attacking player, and the extra cover in defence wouldn't hurt us.
From what i hear, he will be used as more than just a squad player, and God knows he will add to competition to an over rated centre back pairing.

Murphy is a nice footballer stood out when Cobh played Kildare last season. One for the future.

in fairness to the Echo, they go to print at around 12 noon and at 2:45pm now there is nothing on the internet anywhere about it, so lay off the Echo!
is the Cobh chairman on some sort of hallucinagenic drug? he says he'd put a price tag of 100,000 euro on him if a cross channel club shows an interest........he an untried 18 year old playing for a poor first divison team-be real man

Not only that but Cobh gave him persmission to come and play with us at the weekend:rolleyes:
Throw then 5k and a 10% sell on clause. If they reject it, feic them, take him next year.

sounds fair enough, maybe give them a few more grand based on appearances/trophies.
he's a pretty much untried 18 yr old, shouldn't be paying more than ten for him.

I won't be having that!
We ain't poor and Murphy rules! He's quality as Liam Miller and could easily pop across the water-we just don't want to make the same mistake as when we sold Keane for a wheelbarrow or turnips and now he's worth a floggig bomb! ;)
Granted Keane was in his youth but still..............mabye the power of foresight will come in handy :P

Lads..in fairness some of the Ramblers fans come here actually to discuss Darren Murphy so dont be the arrogant supporters from the City club. Some of you take the biscuit really. If some cross chanel club came over here and just grabbed hold of Flynny or George we would be the same..
When John O Sullivan said he could put a 100k price on his head whats the problem? He is just looking out for Cobh who are a dam fine club.If City get Darren and whether he is tried ir not Ramblers should be rewarded.I hear one of you say throw them 5k or just wait until next year and get him for free.Another said give them Behan or Warren on loan.Chri*t lads are us City fans that ignorant...
I have heard Murphy is a very good player and yes he COULD make it across the water.Just hopefully City will get him first and look after Ramblers fairly(just like i know they will)...

Ignorant:rolleyes:
Yes RedX lets agree with Ramblers valuation of the player, sure they're a nice club. Era I hear Limerick could use a few bob too, might as well throw them a load of cash, what about Rovers they'd welcome a euro or two.
AFAIK the record for transfers in the eL is £30k for Molloy from Pats to Bohs. For us to offer €5k for an unproven, young first division player is about the going rate. We're not a feicin charity. If we were to take him on a free next year Ramblers would be due compo. The tribunals who decide the compo tend to be conservitate in their valuation.
Im not saying Cork City should break the rules, far from it, we should do everything above board but under no circumstances should we pay one cent more than what we need to.

To be honest the two Cork teams should be looking out for each other and proud of each other!
As we are in different leagues at the moment I'd want City to win the premiership (though I've got relatives from City so mabye that's why) and Rambs to win the First Division-once we're in the same table then we can turn on the rivalrey :)
But still-don't look on Cobh as "the first division" Cork team because we're coming up and we'll take City for a ride :D
Good luck next seasons guys!

I agree. The so called Cork City/Cobh Ramblers 'rivalry' is a myth. I always look out for Ramblers results, would love to see them promoted etc.
Much like Waterford really. Always wished them the best, delighted when they were promoted. Quite happy they stayed up, but all that being said, i am quite happy that a good healthy local rivalry is once again emerging.

leave all other leagus out of this.. this is the eircom league so don't make refrence to other leagues.
I dont think that we should be getting all defensive about eL or SPL or whatever. Most of us here are "FOOTBALL FANS" anyway, so most of us would go to a game whereever it is if u are in the locality. I know that no matter where i am living i would go see a game in the area, be it Germany, France or anywhere.
i know that when i have f all else to do on a saturday evening that St Colmans is a good idea. Doesnt mean i support Ramblers, i just want to go see a game of ball.
