LONDON (August 12th, 2009) – Sports Interactive & SEGA Europe Ltd. can today announce that Football Manager™ 2010 for PC and Apple Macintosh, and Football Manager Handheld™ 2010 for Sony PSP will be released on October 30th.

Football Manager 2009 is the most successful in the Football Manager series to date, clocking up 22 weeks at No.1 in the UK (PC charts) and selling in excess of 1 million copies worldwide, as well as being voted the 2nd best video game of all time in a recent Radio 1 poll. According to data gathered from Football Manager 2009, people played the game for an average of 240 hours each. However, developer Sports Interactive has been made aware via the vibrant Football Manager community that the addition of big new features in the last few releases has come at the expense of attention to existing areas of the game and solving long standing issues.

didn't really get stuck into the last 2 iterations of FM, too much involved in setting up a single game. individual training sessions, pre match press conference, post match press conference, etc
Compared with the simplicity of the free Championship Manager, with all the latest data updates and patches, it just seemed like a chore

I'm still getting plenty out of FM2009 so I think I'll wait for FM2011 to come out before updating. If the A Championship is in it though I might reconsider..

Thinking the same myself. I usually only buy it every 2 years anyhow but got FM2009 as a present last year

I think the A Championship is going to be included this year.

If it isn't you'll be able to add it yourself:

New Data Editor - including a brand new Competition Editor allowing you to add competitions and extra levels for leagues currently in the game, and add completely new competitions and leagues all via a very simple to use editor. Plus, the new editor allows you to keep your game up to date more easily than ever before.

Saying that - why make do with the A-Championship when this new feature should let you create an All-Ireland League

There's a good bit of newstuff you can do with FM10's editor:

IF I get this on or before release date I'll have a play about with creating either an All-Ireland League or a Restructured League of Ireland with a full pyramid system.

If it works - I'll make the file available on here

From looking at the tutorials on YouTube of the new data editor I don't think it'll be possible to create an All-Ireland league. However, I can't wait to add in a full pyramid structure for Ireland. Is it sad to get excited watching a tutorial showing how to add in regional divisions in Scotland and England? :o

I'm still getting plenty out of FM2009

Same here. I have managed Oldham, Millwall, Fulham, Udinese, AC Milan and I am currently managing Spain and still have plenty I want to win (CL, PL, & International honours). I have won Serie A 2 seasons in a row, the Italian Cup, Italian Super Cup, UEFA Cup & European Super Cup.

I think I might give FM2010 a miss.

FM10 Demo came out this evening btw

Downloaded and installed - and can confirm that all the LoI clubs have their "A" Clubs under them - which looks like the A-Championship will be in.

I see Shels don't have an A side listed so it looks like it'll be like real life with only Premier Division clubs having an A championship side..

P.S. What leagues/features are available in the demo, is it worth downloading?

It's well worth downloading - the larger demo has Quickstarts for England, Scotland, Wales, the North, France, Holland, Italy, Norway, Sweden and a couple of others

Reiteoir.. i take it you customized the game yourself there with the crests?? I downloaded the Vanilla Version. I like how they've switched things around, makes it feel like your playing a totally different game. With FM08 and 09 the game was too similiar.

Yep - it looks like all the logos and such from FM09 will work correctly in FM10.

The new layout is more streamlined - you can find stuff easier and quicker now

I think it is.

Got to the 1st round qualifying round draw with Rovers and i got Vllaznia! Time for some revenge!:D

Has anyone downloaded the patch from sigames.com? Doesn't seem to work properly, something to do with a file violation:(

Got an issue with stadia defaulting to being owned by each club's A Championship side - making any expansion of them impossible as the Board state that as the First Team don't own the ground then they cannot expand.

It's resolved by going into the Editor and setting each individual ground to being owned by the Senior Club

Apart from that - seems ok

No, that sounds about right for the league.

When I start a game the A league doesn't seem to be working with a reserve league involving teams that do'nt have A teams instead. The first team and under 20's are fine. Anyone else had this problem and if so how did you sort it. Any help greatly appreciated

Teams promoted to the premier don't then gain an A Championship reserve team which is very annoying.

Can a reserve side not be created in the editor? And do they not have reserve teams in it automatically already?

The clubs are all solvent. :o Limerick are pretty well done (except for the presence of long departed Derek McCarthy and Steven O'Flynn's terrible stats) but as I was involved in the research that doesn't surprise me! :p

A minor gripe would be that Limerick aren't in the U-20 system for some reason. Possibly because they don't get a host of fake players for that team which I presume is because all our real U-20s are in the game...

In 2010, its quite commical in that somehow Drogheda can outbid quite alot of teams for big players such as Richie Byren, that O'Brien chap that used to play with Toronto and David Van Zanten! SLigo seem to just sign everyone they can in my version.

I bought the game, not sure what to make of it so far. It feels very different from the last version I played, 2007.

I've given up on the editor for now. When I tried to add on the A league I just kept getting this message:
Number of teams in top playoff (1) from competition FAI League of Ireland Newstalk A Championship should be divisible by number of subcompetitions (2). Then I just put more teams in both divisions, which was fine. Except for the fact that when I'd start a new game nothing would have changed.

I don't think I'd manage in Ireland without the facepack anyway though.
I prefer managing in Scotland, Spain and Portugal.
