There was a camera set up at the Bray game last night. If they're showing that one they'll probably show all of them

Wonder if they will show the First Divsion clashes or less "glamorous" ties. They still have to fit in the games from Tuesday night.

Usually I would be a fan of MNS, the coverage of the LOI is usually pretty decent.

I emailed MNS a few weeks back, and then again last week, in relation to Finn Harps 40th Anniversary in LOI which is exactly 40 years to the day. I had asked if they could show a clip from our first season as a senior club in "Raiders of the Lost archives" and got no reply. I informed them that in our first game in LOI, one of their panelists, Damien Richardson, actually played in that game and scored.
Now I may be wrong but isn't that what "Raiders Of the lost archive" is for?
There wasn't even a mention on the show.

I know Im probably wearing Blue tinted glasses hence why I would like to hear what everyone else thinks about it.

Is the clip definitely readily available in the archive?

I understand RTE taped over a lot its pre-1980s footage ages ago.

you see Sam, they've taped over those games with GAA games...truth. They have no footage of Limerick In europe and many many other clubs who had famous nights. id say they would have taped over all the italia 90 and usa 94 stuff only we were there.

I had said in the email that I had footage available to send down.

Either way, an email back to say they had no footage or couldn't use vhs/dvd footage would have been nice and it's not a huge ask.

Didn't they show Limerick in Europe a couple of weeks back against Real Madrid?

I thought MNS was poor tonight, why do they have guys there guessing and doing a long winded and usually quite poor analysis (Often longer than the match footage shown that night) when they are often not even at the games i will never know. I have to say i find Rico are to listen to in general.

Is there anyway that clubs can take ownership of this footage or at least be given the option to do so. Its the cost of the tapes + storage i'd agree but if cluibs are prepared to pay for the tapes would it not be possible.

As I understand it the tapes used in the 80's were reusable (think cassette recorder tapes ) and as a "cost saving" RTE regularly reused the tapes thereby destroying /copying over the original footage. This was especially so regarding football as it was not deemed important (All Ireland finals etc were by and large retained).
Unfortunately it is impossible to restore the original footage once copied over so it is too late for clubs to act now on the matter. It would be hoped that clubs nowadays have arrangements in place to protect match footage especially as digital technology has made storage so much easier.

I liked the round of league games at the start. It was shorty obviously to fit in the Cup games but i though it was well done to be fair.

TBH I find Dave Barry the worst thing about MNS.
He seems incapable of stringing one sentence togethor without ****ing it up somehow.
Seriously is it too much to ask for a commentator that has some basic grasp of the English language and doesnt need to be corrected after he finishes every mind numbingly irrelevant point.
Please please get rid of Dave Barry and bring Roddy back, he might talk horse**** half the time but at least he could formulate a sentence.

Have you ever heard Barry "talk".
Yes Roddy talks horse****, as I said above, yes he has a dub accent (god forbid) but at least he can actually formulate a sentence without Con Murphy having to correct him at the end of every dull and completely uneventfull comment.
Dave Barry just isnt made for telly, maybe he is intelligent off screen but on screen he strikes me as a bumbling idiot that has a lust for stating the blindingly obvious with of course the grammatical corrections of Con.

The thing is, is that he is spot on though. Dave Barry mumbles his way almost incoherently through every sentence, and due to this comes across as a bit of an idiot, which I doubt he is.
