He did ok for us in our relegation season a few years back, was with us for the second half of the season. Would be decent in the first division I'd say.

Completley lost form with us over the second half of last season and was dropped towards the end with Cassidy moving out right and Crowley and Shields in midfield!

Brilliant Raiders this week.
How many brown jackets does that knob Murphy have? His smugness makes my flesh crawl, particularly as he's Alkin's pupet.

Decent interview with Fenlon, nice change from the usual format.
On one point though; all managers were sent a comprehensive questionaire on their views on the League from the FAI. Obviously he forgot all about it.

It was planned to waste some time so they wouldnt have to show any first division highlights!I think if a club was to send in highlights of their game they will show it, well the Eircom League weekly show on TV3 always shoed Dublin City home games and any games we sent htme in from the first division!

'Cretaro got around Conor O'Grady brilliantly'
Yes, he got around his own player:confused:
btw, how can McGrath be offside when the ball came to him from the Dundalk keeper?

He was offside when the shot was taken, so he is still offside if it strikes a post/crossbar or keeper pushes it to him. Its a handy enough rule to interpret, If the shot was more closer to him opriginally the flag would have gone up straight away well it should but this the LOI!!

If he wasn't ruled offside when the shot was hit, he's not offside on the rebound. I didn't see when the flag went up, though. The instruction given to LoI refs is that the player must "touch or nearly touch" the ball in order to be considered active.

Not to mention when asked what he'd sy to Fran gavin he replied "I've had plenty of chats with fran about this, he knows my views well..."
Seemed to be pimping himself out a little too

Is anyone else a little annoyed that Con's closing words were to plug the Premiership starting next week? I will personally eat the Carlisle Grounds if Eamon Dunphy reminds viewers about next Monday's MNS at any point during RTÉ's weekly w*nkfest over all things English.

That doesn't matter though.
I didn't see MNS yet, but in general as far as I understand the rule, if a player is in an offside position when a teammate shoots, the assistant shouldn't flag unless and until that player subsequently becomes active, such as when a rebound falls to, or near to, him.
Is that not what happened in this case?
Tonights MNS is now up on the MNS site for anyone who missed it.

Why would Dunphy plug MNS he doesnt present the premiership shows, whoever is presenting it usually plugs MNS

In any case, our defending for Dundalk's 1st goal was woeful. 2 of their players even had time to tackle each other! :D
Saying that, there were quality strikes in that game from Blinky, Cretaro, Mulvenna and Turner (despite the handball).

Re - Offside
From watching the replay, I would say McGrath was active as he was nearly in line with the original shot as it was taken and therefore would have been in the goalkeeper's line of sight, therefore active.

My wife asked me how bad Galway were during the Goal of the month competition.
She was pretty sure that all the goals were scored against them, except Sean kelly's obviously!.
I used the Fenlon interview as an opportunity to make a cup of tea, it's bad enough listening to his twenty second post match interviews. I was back in time for the ad breaks, which I'm sure were more informative.

Fair enough. But how much would it hurt them to provide the following week's fixtures and a glimpse of the table(s)?

Pretty standard practice to plug related programmes on most TV channel, don't think it's too much of a stretch to say that those interested in watching the football on Monday might also like to watch football on Saturday night. Not only that, but I'm pretty sure at the end of "Premier Soccer Saturday" there's a screen advertising the next week's MNS. (Of course, whether PSS should be on RTE in the first place is a different story ;))

"People see me, and they see the suit, and they go: "you're not fooling anyone", they know I'm rock and roll through and through. But you know that old thing, live fast, die young? Not my way. Live fast, sure, live too bloody fast sometimes, but die young? Die old. That's the way- not orthodox, I don't live by "the rules" you know. And if there's one other person who's influenced me in that way I think, someone who is a maverick, someone who does that to the system, then, it's Ian Botham. Because Beefy will happily say "that's what I think of your selection policy, yes I've hit the odd copper, yes I've enjoyed the old dooby, but will you **** off and leave me alone, I'm walking to John O'Groats for some spastics."

I like the new gantry in The Showgrounds, looks better on television. Couldn't beleive the referee didnt spot Mansaram's handball, could've been gone being already a yellow card on the night for slamming the ball on the ground.
