pubs have run out of beer when the Irish are around FACT.

Do we know if many Israelis will be at this beach party? Got an invitation with my Travel agent Tickets so the Tourist authorities in TA must have done their homework.

I think the numbers travelling to Tel Aviv is a credit to us. If we get 2500 it is an achievement, considering the Swiss only had 40-50  Any idea how many French are going to travel Israeli lads for the game next wednesday?

Iran was amazing, We stopped off in malta to refuel "we went the scenic route with 747 travel" but in the airport in malta we bought the place dry of beer and drank it all on the final leg to tehran. The locals were great applauding us on the street corners as our bus passed by. Then to find eddie jordan standing on the terrace beside us "No corporate box's in the azzuri.

it was a weird feeling in the airport after the game mingling with the team we had qualified for the world cup but we were all so sobre.

Roll on thursday. I hope the immigration lads don't give me grief for visiting iran.

There will probably be more Irish staying on for the French game than French travelling! :D

I actually rang the embassy on this as no doubt some bright spark in Mossad would notice that they had a lot of visitors in the same few days that had also visited Iran. No problems here and they are aware of it.

Only a few days to go now - can't wait.

Some countries have weird laws with regarding drink.

you just have to present an ID that proves that you are over 18 years old.
i don't think its legal to buy a drink for some one who is under 18.
about drinking in the streets, i never saw people drinking in the streets but i'm sure that as long as there is no violence (and there isn't i hope), its fine.

tell me, do you think irish women will come also?

If going by the booking for our Hotel (Beavis & I are going with Standup) is anything then I don'y think there'll be any wives going:

Singles:1
Twins: 34
Three beddeds: 6
Doubles:0

If you're looking for more Ireland fans drinking stories I heard one from back in '90. A huge croud decided to go to via a 3 day cruise to Sicily. After 2 days they'd drank the boat dry & had to spend the last night sober!

Thanks Tom for the money exchange.

Roll on cheap drink & sunstroke!

Hi there, boys and girls in green!
My name is Yigal, I'm from Israel. I've been reading a lot about Irish fans (perhaps the best fans of the world) and I can't wait to meet some of you, to sit and talk over some nice pint (or 2, or 3...) of Guiness (or Maccabi, if you insist :) ). I can recommend you a great Irish pub (I think it's called Dublin ;) ), it's placed in so called Cinema-City (huge site with something like 25 cinemas) in Glilot intersection, TA. You can take bus lines 501, 601, 900, 910 to get there or a taxi (shouldn't cost more than 30-40 NIS). Hope to see you there!
Can't wait to see the invasion of green army! Welcome to The Holy Land!

ahm... that was a recommendation, not a commercial... I don't work for that pub and I'm not related to the owners in any way. I've been there only once and it was a long time ago (what can I do, I live far away from there). Bus lines information was taken from the Cinema-City website (www.cinema-city.co.il (http://www.cinema-city.co.il)). I'll be there on thursday or friday (I'm not the one who'll be driving there) and just hope to meet the Irish fans.

dear friends!!!

Due to the estimation that thousands of Israelies and Irish will arrive to the party, and since the police restrict the capacty to only 2500 fans - we moved the party 300 meters north to "Sportek north" on Ibn Gavirol st. and Rokach Blv.
The party at the park will be able to perceive the estimation of about 10,000+- .
Another great news is that many students (yes yes also female students..) will be there - so dont forget the new loction!!

Let's remember that everyone travelling to Tel Aviv is going firstly to support the Irish team and then whatever happens after that will take care of itself. We all know how to party but we really need to get behind Brian and the boys and make lots of noise inside the ground, then we can concentrate on chatting up the locals. ;)

As for the Israeli invasion of the website, the more the merry as long as they do not start trying to sell us stuff, no problem with happy hours and good deals, still waiting to hear of a good fry up .

Kobby, I think the party bit has got a bit diluted..it seems it is more a Purim party, than a welcome the Irish party, not to worry once there is free beer and friendly people, a good time will be had by all.

Folks be careful re time changes for those with early flights on Sunday morning.

It is my understanding that Israel does not change until April 1st but back home will change on Saturday night. I think this is why my flight now departs at 6am on Sunday and not 7am as originally scheduled.

Maybe one of our Israeli friends could confirm.

Caesarea is close to my home (I live about 5 minutes driving from there). There're no bus stations over there, the only way to get there is by touring with a group, a taxi or... someone you know can take you there. ;)
The amphitheatre and the Old City are sure worth to see! If you'd like - I can help you with that, pick you up at the train station with my car (sorry, not the best car, an old one, but it's still a car), make a tour with you in Caesarea (maybe even in Zichron Ya'akov) and take you back to the train station.
