Well the Sligo lads had me really worried all week.
Over on their board, it was all about:
***the display against Pats and how quickly their (8, my God 8!) new signings had bedded in blah blah blah
***the three points are more important than the mere League Cup semi final blah blah blah
***with Cork's problems we could still qualify for Europe blah blah blah
the usual mix of arrogance and dismissiveness with which a few of the more puerile posters who support their team treat us to when it comes to our turn to play them.
Then we take the field without O'Shea, O'Brien and later Cooke go off injured, Russell is sent off with a half to play and really we are on the ropes.........
............except that Alan Murphy had his best game for us in years. Seamus Conneely gave a display that must've reminded some of the visiting supporters of a certain Mr. Coleman. Breen, Guthrie and Ryan showed leadership and determination that those representing us in other codes recently would do well to take an example from. All against a background where we are existing only from day to day.
Very very proud of our players tonight. Well done to them all.
And to close a little ditty for our north western neighbours:
Stayed in Albania
You should've stayed in Albania
Stayed in Alban-ia
You should have.............................................. .
seriously lads without the magnificent Mr. Peers, you're going to keep one foot on the trap door.
