ANTI DOPING UPDATE

PFAI Chairman Stephen McGuinness, gives his view of the recent Irish Sports Councils anti-doping conference, which was addressed by WADA Chief Executive David Howman (pictured), in Dublin recently. Supplements still seem to be a major issue in sport today. Do eircom League players know that over 20% of all supplements bought over the internet and through unreliable sources have a prohibited substance in them even if it isn’t listed on the outside of the product.

I recently attended the Irish sports council anti-doping conference which I must say was a very professionally staged event in the Clontarf Castle,Dublin. With such speakers as John O’Donoghue the Minister for sport, Olympic silver medallist John Treacy and WADA chief executive David Howman you realised how important the statement is when such people are delivering the message.

It's annoying really that the League insist on bumming the arse outta this kind of thing when more pressing matters are at hand....

But even the english league are under pressure to sort out the doping/testing side of things. The GAH have to make changes aswell.

GAA's problem is with out of competition testing but they seem to be coming round.
