crowe shouldn't be there, he had an "average" season last season.

Hawkins wasn't great last year, by his standards anyway, Shels bias obviously but Kev Doherty would be a far better choice for a centre half to win the award imo.

can't believe steve williams isn't in the shortlist for the overall award. Flynny being there is strange, especially as he didn't make the team of the year.
With that line-up my heart is with georgie but my money's on Byrne

PFAI announce awards nominees

The nominees for the PFAI Player of the Year award for 2003 have been announced, with two players each from Bohemians and Cork City while champions Shelbourne have just one representative, striker Jason Byrne.

Byrne’s impact in his debut season at Tolka Park was stunning - his 21-goal tally in the league ended Glen Crowe’s three-year reign at the top of the league’s scoring charts and was the principal aspect in the shift of power from Bohs to the Drumcondra club.

However, Shelbourne will surely be disappointed that their league-winning year could only garner them one nomination, while Bohemians and Cork City - respectively second and a distant third to Shels in the final reckoning - split four between them.
