For 8 years Eircom were exclusive sponsors of the League of Ireland.
In that time we created a professional Premier Division, a change to "summer" football and historic success in European competition. And the now the LOI constantly referred to as the "Eircom League".
But in those 8 years of sponsorship what did Eircom do to benefit the clubs of the League of Ireland?

It gave Trevor Welch the chance to call it "the Ear-com League" for a few years.
They put a few quid in. Which the clubs ****ed away. As they do.

Free text-messaging service which was all used up by about 6 weeks into the season and then was shelved.

The text service provided over the past 2 years was not from eircom, the FAI paid for that themselves through a 3rd party provider. It was costing them a fair whack so they had to cut it out, some clubs where using it stupidly.

Yep, I think one per week is allowed- after that clubs would have to pay for it themselves.
