Heard we had Sligo, Kildare County,Bray and UCD lined up for friendlies (don't know the dates yet)...Over the past few years we played Athlone, wonder why we are not this time round???

LOL and people thought I abused Micky Adams that Brighton game.... :D

Sunderland wouldnt cost much to bring over, Mick McCarthy would do it as a favour to the club and Donald Keogh in particular whom he's known for years, ever since we sold Dave Savage to Millwall. If you got a half decent crowd you could make a few quid. Dont know if it'll happen though as the only pre season dates they can fit us in on are around the time of the European matches and Alan wouldnt have anything disrupting preparations for that. Rightly so too..

well i'd go just to roar abuse at him and that fool mcateer, freedom of speech and all that .

Could be a good selling point if the game happens! Set up a stall selling Anti-Mick/McAteer merchandise outside

McCarthy does town a favour and brings Sunderland over and yuz want to go and shout abuse at him?

Yeah...... Although I do that to all the opposition anyway - friendly or not.... :D

yes, a lot of us don't want him anywhere near the flansiro. and a lot of these friendlies don't make any money for the home club anyway.

I'm not sure why you wouldn't want him at Flancare but thats probably a topic thats been discussed too many times on this board!
Aside from the finances, I think it would be a good test if it could be arranged before the european matches - Sunderland have an experienced team. If we wern't in the UEFA it probably wouldn't be worth it.

i haven't seen too many town fans being very positive about this maybe fixture, i have no time for the man and personally would not like to see him or mcatawt set foot in the flansiro.

To be honest lads, i have no problem with mickmccarth coming to ltfc at all. After all it was 10 years ago that Mick paid £15000 to sign DAVE SAVAGE for Millwall and this money plus the money earned for each cap for the irish team ensured survival for us for a few years at least.

I am pretty sure that Sorbo will AGREE with me as both of us came home early on a cycling holiday by a day in order to make the Millwall preseason friendly.

I know that Mick did not cap anyone at all but he did call up Stephen Geoghegan and Glenn crowe to the full time squad on a few occasions. And surely it was up to the players to impress him?

Everyone at all sides made mistakes- it was not just Mick.

How could they impress him if he was never at any games? Whatever about Geoghegan, Crowe was only called to train with the team and was never part of the squad.... Besides that's not the point - Kerr may never Cap an eL player, but he'll sure as hell be at a lot of games......

On the money issue, it may be so that the money kept us going, but that doesn't mean that Savage wasn't massively undervalued compared to what he would've gone for from the English semi-pro ranks.... He wasn't doing us a favour by signing him!

the milwall board paid for savage, not mccarthy. he did us no favours at all, he seena player he wanted and he asked the board to purchase him, it would not have mattered what club he was playing for at the time.

I don't like Mc Carthy myself, actually i hate the tool but Sunderland would be a good match as it may put a few bums on seats and a match like that at the right time could be a good warm up for a european tie.As for Davy Savage, i was involved in the u16 squad at the time so i had some info on what was going on and Millwall were the only club with a serious interest in him so the curly haired ones transfer fee saved our arse as a club big time.Mind you, some of the people involved in the club at the time may have had a "few" drinks from the money brought in from it.Thankfully those days as a mickey mouse outfit club are a thing of the past.Incidently, Savo still checks up on us from time to time so he hasn't forgot where he came from.On a seperate issue anyone know anything on the outcome of the whole LTFC ceased trading as a company sh1t.Nothing has been mentioned in a while on the issue.
