I refuse to listen to him since he called the EL 'a noose around the FAI's neck' when it came to TV negotiations in his Sunday Indo column.
Newstalk is good apart from him though, and do very good EL coverage.

Off the Ball is quite good and refreshingly cosmopolitan in outlook (despite the off-putting, sneering tone of most of its presenter-to-presenter chatter.)
Incidentally, I've been meaning to ask about The Right Hook's theme music; is it Rory Gallagher's Bad Penny? If not, it sounds a lot like it.

absolute torture listening to this guy.and occasionally he pops up on tv with his ugly bulldog mush.just retire or something george
I actually think he's okay - the voice can grate a bit, but for content he's the best of the options at that time of the day (i.e. Matt Cooper or 5-7 live).
I'm big fan of Newstalk, particularly and perhaps obviously the four lead shows - McWilliams, Kiberd, Hook and Off The Ball (although the bogball content sometimes gets a bit much).
The only disappointment is that it doesn't quite reach where I live, unlike shíte like 98FM and FM104....

5-7 Live is the best of the "drive time" shows, they have the shortest traffic updates.
Dunphy used be good.
The worse aspect of Irish Radio is late night talk shows, shocking shocking idea that every station now seems to have.

I hate to say it but the Last Word is gone down the toilet since Cooper took over. It's Stephen Price, who produced for Dunphy, who really made that show so good.
5 - 7 Live is starting to get better, I think.
I have to say though that Vincent Brown can be very good at night, especially the reconstructions of the tribunals. Sometimes that is the best comedy anywhere.

father wishy washy replies:well my son the show is bereft of my blessed presence since the arrival of the anti christ matt cooper.fear not i will be returning to the airwaves shortly and will resume my stories from unga bunga
George Hook is ok, if was in the car at that time would just swop between Hook & Cooper anyway.
Off the Ball is good with very good eL coverage including outside the Pale.
Listen to McWilliams a bit in the morning & he the best at that type of radio show at the moment. IMO better than Dumpy at his peak. Can't be long before RTE sign him up for tv or radio.
