RTE staff vote in favour of pay-cuts to save jobs
Staff in RTÉ have voted in favour of pay-cuts as part of cost saving measures for the station.

The cuts, which will range from 2.5% to 12.5%, were presented by management as an alternative to redundancies.

A total of 57% of union members accepted the cuts, in a ballot conducted over the past ten days.

The station expects to incur a shortfall of €68m this year.

A spokesperson says $28m have already been saved through wage cuts, changes to programming and cost reduction measures.

Reality sets in. Didn't think they'd vote for this. Need to renegotiate "star" salaries. The like of Plank Kenny & Gerry Ryan are on ridiculous money. No chance of any other station pinching them.:)

+1.

I did read though that each person has to volunteer to take the cuts which is crazy. Who do they think they are? Politicians?
