In today’s Sunday World I was shocked to find a league table of the 1st division. And wait for it, guess who was leading? Undefeated in 13 games! Yep, Limerick!

Eircom Division One
Limerick FC 13 8 5 0 25 11 29
Finn Harps 13 8 2 3 21 10 26
Dublin City 13 7 5 1 17 11 26
Bray 13 7 4 2 26 14 25
Athlone Town 12 6 2 4 16 12 20
Sligo Rvs. 13 5 5 3 17 16 20
Galway Utd. 13 5 3 5 18 23 18
Kildare County 14 3 7 4 18 19 16
Cobh Ramblers 13 3 4 6 11 19 13
Dundalk 13 2 4 7 13 16 10
Monaghan Utd. 13 1 3 9 7 22 9
Kilkenny City 13 0 2 11 8 24 2

I think this was in fact the form guide for the last 13 or so games, which showed what a fantastic run in we had. So nice of the Sunday world to remind us of this achievement J I’m afraid that’s all the good news for the next few weeks do

We're also the Fair Play kings (despite the best efforts of John Whyte ;) ) having won the First Division Fair Play Award for the last three seasons. A handy few bob there as well.

Don't we get €2,500 or something around that mark for winning the fair play award because it just got me thinking, we won this the two previous years. Also each season apparently we receive a grant of €2,500 for running the under 21's and that this season we were short €500 to do so. Why then couldn't they take the €500 from money won from the fair play award. We could have then had more than 12 players at matches last season. I just feel its a shame not to have any underage teams. Hopefully this season that won't be the case...

Well according to the Financial Projections handed out by John Purcell last year it would have cost €3,500 to run an U-21 side for the year. He also budgeted for a grant of €3,000 for the U-21 team. So that's where the €500 shortfall came from. That the money wasn't found somewhere really came back to bite us on the behind when we ended up going into games with a squad of 12 and 13 players at times.

And AFAIK the Fair Play award is for €5,000 though I'm open to correction on that.
