well lads,

I am doing some research into history of ltfc since 1984-85 season and am currently on the 97-98 season. I am wondering does anyone have a copy of the 98-99 league of ireland annual with the statistics for the previous season on it please.

The games I am stuck are:

League Cup Drogheda Utd 2-1 Longford Town dont know ourgoalscorer
League Cup Monaghan Utd 4-1 Longford Town dont know our goalscorer
Leinster Senior Cup Monaghan Utd Longford Town no match result or our goalscorer
3.98 League :Longford Town 1-2 Athlone Town dont know our goalscorer

If ye are able to assist please pm as my head is wrecked by this season totally.:(

I have the 98-99 annual but that info isn't in it, just results. Maybe you should look for programmes from that season instead?
Don't know if it's any help but goalscorers for the season were:
League (12)- 3 Frawley, 2 Dunleavy, McDonnell, 1 Doherty, Gannon, Kenny, Larkin, Malone.
FAI Cup (5)- 1 Darby, Doherty, Gannon, Rooney, og.
League Cup (3)- 1 Kenny, Larkin, Tobin.
Shield (4)- 2 Doherty, 1 Dunleavy, Frawley.

Marty have you tried the Irish Times digital Archive
Taken from 20 August 1998

"Longford Town's progress under new, young manager, Stephen Kenny, continued as they came from behind to beat Monaghan United 2-1 at Strokestown Road.
James Callaghan put Monaghan ahead with a deflected shot after 25 minutes. Longford equalised through Alan Merriman seconds before half-time with Chris Malone scoring the winner seven minutes from the end."

It is very easy to use and you should be able to get the info you require there. Failing that do you have the dates of those games will dig out my archives and see if I can find anything for you.

The only game I need now is the Leinster Senior Cup game. I assume that noone scored in it all I need is the scoreline. I will get the approximate date for you tomorrow harps in dublin. and I will give that website a go and see how I get on
