So lads, the draw for the Semi - Finals of the EA Sports Cup will be made tomorrow, who do we all want ? Here's my ideal draw :

Waterford United .V. U.C.D.

Sligo .V. Bohs

What's everyone's ideal draw ?

Draw is made behind closed doors isn't it? Can't see them putting two Premier teams together if so...they'll want them in final;).

Ideally for us, UCD or Waterford at home please. Waterford away would be a disaster travel wise.

Sligo away on the Bank Holiday wll do me. Winnable game, no programme to do and could head up to it handy enough.

It would be on Tuesday probably because one of us is playing on the previous Saturday.

In that case I'll take Bohs away as getting into the final would be painful after deciding against betting on us E/W on the basis we would be knocked out in the QFs.

Anyone know what the story with the draw is? What time it's at and is it just gonna appear on LOI website, hardly on MNS is it? Well organised and publicised once again:rolleyes:.

Fair play to Tony McDonnell, looking at the balls when picking. Handiest draw for UCD of course;)

I genuinely hope we lose. Care more about betting than the League Cup.

You are by far the worst WUM on this site. You never manage to actually wind anyone up.

The League Cup doesn't hold that much importance. I would obviously be thrilled if we get to the final but I would get more personal satisfaction from winning money. I apologise for not being some sort of super-fan.

In fairness, he has a point.

Have you tried this (http://www.gamblersanonymous.org/) crowd?

I hope we win. I won't mind if we don't, cos it's the League Cup.

Or does that make me a WUM too? ;)

All I've stated is true, no proper fan prefers his team to lose because he missed out on good odds on the team to win earlier.

Sligoman's right. I think thats a ridiculous statement to have made.

Tin-Pot Trophy or not, its always better for your team to win something than to win a few measly quid on a bet.

Why wouldn't you want to see your team win a cup? Setanta Cup place(although it might not be around next year) and prize money?

I though there was no Setanta Cup place? That probably would change my opinion.

I'm actually not sure about that one(apologies). Is that not how Derry are in it this year?(I could be completly wrong:o)

I thought there was a Setanta place alright, only for the winner though - i.e. it wouldn't transfer if you lost to someone who qualified through the league, the extra place would go to the next league place.
I think Dunny that is how Derry got into it, as it happened first. I suppose you could also say that's how Cork are in it, if Derry hadn't won the LC they'd have qualified through the 3rd place anyway, the fact they did means Cork's 5th place was enough. I think. :)
However, not sure of any of that as to be fair I haven't paid any real attention to the Setanta Cup at any stage until the last couple of weeks! :D

There is a Setanta Cup place for winners of LC.

peter cook was a massive spurs fan, but always without fail in every game bet against them - "if we win im happy, if we lose im happy!!!!!"

i have often bet against ireland, - on one occasion i had a tidy some on battigoal to score v irelnd and let a roar out of me in the pub when he did the business - which wasnt a good idea -a decent gambler never lets sentimentality get in the way of a good price:)

There's been a Setanta Cup spot for the League Cup since the last time we were in the final (when the FAI waited until the day of the semi final before giving the extra spot to the League Cup, having waited as long as possible to see if Shels' league form picked up; then we went and beat Shels anyway. :) )

That said, if there's no Setanta next year, there's no Setanta Cup to worry about.
