I think designated areas is the way to deal with it. With kids etc attending it's only fair for smokers to move when they want to light up.

No smoking bans should not be introduced. The next thing people will be calling for an end to singing and standing at football matches. I'm sick of this nanny state bullsh!t

Ammmmmm...............have they not already banned standing at our european games!!!!!!!!!

Thank feck we're still allowed to sing.Well as long as we don't use megaphones in some grounds in the L.O.I.

Do you honestly believe the state will ban standing at football grounds?

Smokers should be concentrated in a certain section of the ground. They should also have to wear a special symbol so that everyone knows to stay away from them.
Ah now, let's not get hung up on Semitics.

The megaphones are bloody annoying!

And the no standing rule is being enforced mainly by the clubs themselves. Most clubs in England have no problem with people standing up all game if they want to, so long as it's not in the "family section" where they'd block the view of any kids. I think that's the way we should go in Ireland if attendances grow to such a level that we need to do it.

That's a disgraceful thing to say. I've seen girls who would need to bring at least 4 hot friends to make their presence acceptable!

At Croke Park for an ireland match and was 'told' to put out a cigy, so I assume the whole ground is smoke free.

Is it the same for the rugby and GAA games there?

croker is smoke free in seated areas. you must go out to balcony area (where bars, shops are) to smoke. I know this is the case for football and bogball and presume it is the same for rugger.

RE smoke ban - just what is needed, another reason for people not to go to games
