yea its the flancare guy
but he only put 100.000 into longford for naming rights to their stadium cos he was opening a big road haulage center up there...which didnt happen...so theres a risk for longford that he may leave them alltogether. the 50,000 is in the bank
Anyone hear what is the full story is about this? I heard this in Longford at the weekend and all of a sudden problems are cropping up................
Very worrying times ahead!
AFAIK the original Flancare deal was more than that, and it's been re-signed since. Ultimately we're now in a stronger position than ever to get a new sponsor - Cup Winners, 4th in the League, UEFA Cup, High Profile Manager (always on Newstalk during the season anyway). Again not overly concerned - lets concentrate on getting the accounts filed...

you sold it to me at the weekend that you heard this in town... Flancares deal was signed and I think has this season to run. On the subject of the Haulage centre, it's got planning permission subject to a road being built between the Athlone and Strokestown Road... and building has begun....BTW Flancares sponcership is important, especially from an Alan Kirby point of view...
The only worry at the moment is the returns... which we were told we'd get them in, this Friday/Monday will tell a lot... Then we have to find to money to make use of this grant, it's not being awarded on a pro-rata basis...

AFAIK there's not going to be a problem on either front..Flancare signed a new deal during last season for the next three seasons at increased money..they also gave us an extra 25,000 at the time of the cup final. Michael Woodlock is the main man there and he's now a big Longofrd town supporter and is actively canvassing all his other contacts for sponsorship for us. As for the accounts its all been handed over to a firm in Dublin who have agreed to act as auditors for the company, as it hasn't traded in seven years there shouldn't be a problem, the main snag was finding an auditor who was willing to certify this which was done early in the new year, returns should be in by the deadline.. There will be some penalties but nothin too major.Club accounts were in to the league long ago. Theres a lot of fundraising planned for the next few months too, draw for a villa in Spain, corporate lunch, golf classic, even plans foir a concert in Flancare..

a concert at flancare was mentioned before but there are a lot of factors to be takin into account, it would be great to see, the more money we get in the better.
