Good second half performance rescued the match last night with a good crowd (900 ?) there. We were awful in first half playing 4-5-1 with Gary Sheahan up front on his own and ball regularly wellied up to him with two centre-halves about a foot taller marking him. Don't know what he was expected to do. Bohs deservedly went in two up and could have been more.
Second half changed when Gavin Doyle and Sinny went on. Suddenly we were able to put a few passes together and Patsy had two headers from corners cleared off the line in a minute while their keeper also made a good save from a JFOC volley. However, we only scored in last minute when a cross travelled a long way into the box and was stopped by a hand from a Bohs defender. Didn't look deliberate, more clumsy, but ref gave it. Ref didn't give much else to us and missed a bad push on JFOC for one of the goals.
Ball retention was biggest gulf between the two sides and we need to put more thought into what we are doing when we play 4-5-1. Liked Neale Fenn for Bohs; used the ball and took his goal very well.

It was definetly a game of two halves last night.During the first halve i feared the worst for us as bohs took total control of the game.Neale Fenn caused big problems on the left wing running at our defence.
Agree that the double substitution changed things for the better in the second halve.
We then matched bohs and on another day maybe could have snatched a draw.
Attendance 742

agree we did not seem to have a game plan with one player up front. never do when we play 5 across the middle our best formation has always been 4-4-2 and when we change that the team suffers.
Sheenan looks like a very good player who likes to sit on shoulder of last defender which some compliment Doyle well as he likes to sit a little deeper looked ok playing together last night and as play more together hopefully will link well

As I said on the Supporters Club site:
Moving onto last nights game, like the Derry game last year, we were a bit negative, overrawed and showed to much respect at times. Have to say that Richie Winter is one of the worst referees going, how the foul on Johnny that led to the first goal wasn't called was a joke.
Patsi, Gary Sheehan and Johnny were by far our best players over the course of 90 mins. Conor and Gavin added a bit more bit to the attack when they came on. But the one concern I would have is the contribution that Gareth McCurtain, Shane Dempsey and espeically David Miller contributed last night. Failed to impose themselves on the game in David Millers case, never tracked back enough to help Johnny out, gave away needless possession and not enough of the simple ball likewise in that regard with Dempsey.
All in all they can be proud of their efforts, roll on Shels Friday night. 3 in a row for me...http://images.freewebs.com/Images/Smilies/Round/smile.gif
I thought the atmosphere was decent and got right behind the team. Club is still in its infancy as smodgley said. I was saying this to my brother last Friday and last night that when the hardcore fanbase get older and experienced the atmosphere will gradually become more vocal. Still a lot of young children amongst the crew. Delighted the ones who left missed the peno, well taken by Gavin. No one should ever leave the game until the final whistle you will get out of Ferrycarraig eventually. People need to chill out in that regard.
Who would of thought it 5 years ago that Wexford would have being hosting the likes of Bohs and Derry City in a major game that meant something and beating the likes of Cork City for instance. These are the stuff that dreams are made of in predominantly GAA county. Enjoy I say.
Notable mention for Peter White and Rossi as well recovered well after a dodgy spell in the first half.

Have to say is it just but Richie Winters favours the big teams, seen it now twice with Derry and Bohs, although Derry outclassed in the final last September, last nights game him and his linesman near the stand like the ref against Mervue made some awful decisions.
The foul on Johnny that led to the first goal for Bohs, the lunge by Graham Carey and Killian Brennans elbow should have being given straight reds. He was making "homer decisions" but in regards to "bigger team gets the decisions"
Forgot about Locky wat a great performance from him also.

for me Gareth and Pasty are to similar a type of player to play together both hard tackling type of players. Gareth is a right back by trade but has being doing well in the middle this season when asked to play there. IMO Gareth will be a better player than Pasty as is more controlled and gives away less free kicks. Dempseny is a player who likes to sit in the middle and pass the ball could not do that last night but unlike in previous games he did keep going which is an improvement. Also have to remember him and Gaerth are still quiet young 18-19 so may just need a bit more time
David Miller has yet to impress in any game in has played pushed off the ball to easy and would guess that once Nobby back fit will play an option may be to play Fitz out there till then may not always have an end product but he will put in the effort.
IMO JFOC was by far and away best player on the pitch last night played for the whole match with very little protection from Miller. Rossi came good second half after a shaky start. Pa looked more agressive in the goal and was shouting at players in front of him (wonder where he got that from :D)
