Fingal and Rovers look very good value- 5.98 double with PP.

Any information already on how serious UCD take the cup game this time? They won first two rounds despite not fielding their strongest team, but that might look differently against Galway

Full strength minus two or three.

Galway beat us 2-0 in pre-season I think; was our worst pre-season result.

See the above post. That's what I was told on Friday night. Could name you the team if you want. ;)

Thanks for the info above! :)

Even more interesting would be the general attitude towards the cup, because if you don't field your strongest possible team against a stronger opponent in a quarter final, then for me it means that you don't take the competition that serious.

I mean there's no need to rest players on Monday for the next league game on Friday, is there?

Think there's one or two in exams who aren't being brought. There's a couple of injuries too, which will make it slightly less than full strength (John Reilly is ill, for example, and unlikely to travel).

We want to win the competition, but we want to win everything we enter, so that doesn't really help much. As important, however, is developing new players, and seeing as most of our squad this year is new, we'll be going with a strong team to give them experience against a Premier Division side.

Obviously you cant saying as you don't know if you're missing two or three :p
Touche! In my defence, I was drinking at the time our assistant manager was listing off the team, so my memory isn't what it could otherwise be. ;)

Anyone know if Rovers will be playing their strongest side away to WUFC in the plastic cup? If they play the majority of their best players then the 13/10 on offer is massive!

Fair enough, hadn't thought of that. Thought you were just trying to be Mystig Meg as usual.;)

I'd fancy their second string to get the job done.

Here's (http://www.extratime.ie/fixtures/detail/102/2009/11701/1/) the team they played against Pats. Maybe they'll play a weaker team because they'll be up against lower division opposition this time and have a big game on Friday against Derry. As I said though, I'd still fancy them to win.

Put 1 point on that double.

Waterford v Shamrock Rovers

I’m lumping on an away win here @ 11/8 with Bet365. While WUFC have been moving along nicely over the past 2 months their fitness will be beginning to wear out since they’ve such a small squad. In the previous round away to lowly junior side FC Carlow they had to win in extra time. Rovers could rest one or two decent players but they should still have enough for the home side. With a Setanta Cup spot on offer O’Neill will be gunning that his side win tomorrow evening. 11/8 is way to big for me to ignore, this is Premier Division -V- First Division. This is value and I don’t think the 11/8 will last too long either…….

Rovers @ 11/8 (bet365) 5pts.

Galway seem to have strong team out. UCD have made a few changes, most notably up front. Neither Kilduff nor David McMillan are starting so we may struggle to score.

Looks like Sligo might pinch it in Fingal, not quite a full strength Fingal:

Ouch indeed.

Nonsense. Rovers should have won with the side they had out. Though on the plus side it was a great result for my UCD bet.

I think you're really underrating Waterford Raheny.

I know in the first couple of games of the season they struggled at home against Shels and Fingal but since then they've been the most impressive side in the First Division in terms of results.

It's very similar to what Stephen Henderson did at Cobh a few years ago (I think they lost their first 2 games of the season and then went about 25 unbeaten!). I agree with you that they've a very small squad but so do all of the top 4 teams in the 1st Division.

I called 3 of the 4 games right - Backed Sligo & Bohs and layed Rovers but unfortunately I lumped on United to beat UCD at 4/5 so I still lost! :(

We've 28, almost all of whom have been used getting us this far in the League Cup (so there's not a huge quality gap)

Yup, I agree, 10 wins from their last 11 that's deadly. Think a Fingal lay is worth considering as they really are not motivated with this ****e.

UCD are being underrated once again and Shels overrated in this week's betting.
