How did he do tonight? I think he has been a bit of a revelation in my eyes since moving back to centre back. I thought he was very good down in Cork and i think Mauro could have a fight on his hands to take the jersey back off him. Feeney seems like a natural centre back, will be interesting to see how he will get on against Shams if he plays there.

I thought he did fine tonight. Harps didnt put the defence under much pressure but he looked cool and relaxed on the ball.

Why would Mauro have to battle for hus place against Feeney ?

I taught he did alright tonight in fairness, seems to win the ball alot in the air for us. But he dosen't seem to put the ball forward alot (not tonight anyways) anytime he got the ball at his feet tonight, he just gave it to Peers. I'd be more concerned about him fighting for his place with Ventre, everyone knows Cookie wants him starting every game, but i'd hate to see the O' Grady/Ryan partnership broken up, same as for Peers/Almeida. Speaking of defenders, why was Mukendi being booed in the first half ? I noticed he started getting booed when he was getting up off the ground when Finn Harps got a free kick. I take it he dived or something ?

I thought he looked better in the second half but only because Harps had given up by then. Some pretty bad passes in the first half.

Diving and a number of blatently obvious fouls on Raf which went unnoticed.

Thought he done quite well and was very composed on the ball.
Gave us extra heigth at set peices which is something that we lacked of late, marked Mukendi very well
Harps were terrible though

Both central defenders play in the same position.

I thought Feeney was very good against Galway, Drogs (-2 men) and Cork, i was unable to make it tonight but 1 goal in 3 is decent defending. I would worry about his pace but what has impressed me about Feeney is he is very comfortable reader of the game allows him to gain an extra yard. Although saying all that it will be interesting to see him v Shams and how he gets on.

Like it or not there are a lot of balls played in the air in this league and he is suited to this style for defending. In my mind i would have him in front of Ventre and hopes he keeps on improving to make Mauro have to fight for the jersey, competition for places is good for a team and i hate seeing any player just stroll back into a team.

I think it is fair to say the same applies in most leagues in the world - heading the ball is a staple part of any centre backs artillary.

feeney is a utility sub at best, i would rather him in centre back than ventre as ventres tackling is a liability. ventre is a midfielder not a centre back. feeney lacks pace but also adds height to a small back four. he reads the game well. handy enough sub in fairness when we have such a small squad.
