How Stupid are the LDMC for having fixtures down for Sunday morning after the heiniken cup semi, Just because its a different sport they put down fixtures for Sunday, Im sure clubs would have no problems maybe playing on Friday evening and im sure some Referees would feel the same. But this was happens when you have a Clowns running Junior football in Limerick.......

An absolute joke is right. The last bank holday weekend we played on a Monday. Don't think anyone would have complained if the same happened again. Teams will be struggling for players now.

All games could have been spread across Friday evening, Saturday morning / afternoon, or Monday morning / afternoon
And even as a last resort, games could have been played at 2.30pm on Sunday.....
BUT NOT SUNDAY MORNING FFS
If a team had a game on a Friday they'd have the whole weekend to look forward to.
If a team had a game on a Saturday morning/afternoon, they could head out and watch the Munster game and get blocked knowing they had their game played.
If a team had a game on a Sunday afternoon they could still enjoy a few beers Sat night.
If a team had a game on the Monday, they could get hammered Saturday and recover Sunday.

It is not all the fixtures sec fault....having dealt with council and the sec on fixtures of late i find him most helpful.. the council are another case..

A bit of common sense is just needed from the council, Knowing that players and maybe officials are more than likely going to the match as well and staying over due to the bank holiday, I just hope the council are reading this and realising that there a bunch of clowns im sure most of them will be enjoying the weekend not worrying how stupid they are and for wrecking alot of peoples bank holiday weekend and mine.
Have to agree. A bit of common sense here wouldn't go a stray. It's ludicrous having games sunday morning. Hopefully the wet weather keeps up and the games are all off.

If a team had a game on a Friday they'd have the whole weekend to look forward to. - Fridays are for schoolboy fixtures and referees would not be available. If a team had a game on a Saturday morning/afternoon, they could head out and watch the Munster game and get blocked knowing they had their game played. - Saturday mornings/afternoons are for schoolboy fixtures and no referees would be available. If a team had a game on a Sunday afternoon they could still enjoy a few beers Sat night. - what about a few beers Friday night or Sunday night? If a team had a game on the Monday, they could get hammered Saturday and recover Sunday. - are you still at an age where you need to get hammered to enjoy yourself? To listen to some of ye you'd swear playing football was like going to work. Its supposed to be enjoyable and something to look forward to. If its more important to go out and get hammered then give up football. Its this "drink" mentality that has young lads drifting from football in droves...............................

Just out of curiosity.............Are you still playing ball??
Not all Junior refs, referee schoolboy games!!!!!!!!
And whether I need to get hammered to enjoy myself or not is none of your concern,,,,,,,,,,,I was speaking generally, as some people enjoy getting hammered where as others dont.............
What about teams with players going to match Bonovox and alot will stay over night as its a bank holiday weekend. We'll be missing players sunday morning, hardly fair. This is a huge sporting fixture for the whole town and even though its another sport the ldmc should have taken it into account when organising fixtures.

To me an irish soccer qualifying match is more inportant as im not a rugby fan, when i go up to watch ireland of a sat night ive to drive back down and play a match on sunday morning the rugby is kicking off over 2 hours earlier so it give's most people a chance to get down in plenty of time, people should go out and enjoy the match but why should the ldmc call it off if not all the junior soccer players in limerick support rugby and would rather be playing soccer on a sunday.

with all due respect leather the fix sec IS the most powerful person on council and while your relations with him might be of a cordial nature of late his overall performance this season has been shocking, fact is he sets the fixtures agenda...the others follow.

Yes, it makes sense. Why should soccer matches be changed to accomodate this. Would rugby change its games for the 'beautiful game'?

Limerick is the home of rugby. paul o connell is the captain of the lions, a limerickman. and i guarantee you every single player on that munster team follows soccer as well. a bit of common sense is what's needed here. the referees follow the rugby as do the players. nothing wrong with following 2 sports!!!

I love it when my game clash with other events - rubby matchs. all-irelands, popes visits etc. I know that lads who don't take the soccer game that seriously will be at a disadvantage, because they'll either be drinking beforehand or miss the game altogether. The lads that take their soccer seriously and mind themselves will then win every time. :ball:
Are you playing to win, or are you only playing? :ball:

There is nothing wrong with following two sports or however many you want. Both sports are on at different times, so why should one be changed ?
I assume its guys want to go on the booze. Well, that's not a problem, you just have to play your soccer match on Sunday!
I am not normally a friend of the establishment or policymakers, however in this case I believe that with the season coming to a close that if you reverse the decision on this issue every other two bit excuse from other codes will be cited for consideration.
The easiest option ,therefore, is to ' drive on' and Limerick football will be no worse off.

A bit of common sense was done with fixtures as our game has been moved from Sunday to Friday evening.

yes most guys would like to have a few drinks and enjoy the night without having a match to worry about the next morning. this is junior soccer like, it's not like we play in the english premiership!!! we should be entitled to the weekend off for special occasions like the heineken cup semi-final, we stay in 15-16 saturday nights during the season and don't drink so the least they could do is give us a free weekend!!!

What I cant understand is why you cannot play on Sunday morning after a rugby match. I assume matches are often scheduled for sunday morning. We all enjoy a beer but if your life is affected to such an extent that you cannot play soccer because of your drinking habits questions need to be asked. Alterntaivelly should sport be organised around people's drinking or should your drinking be organised around your sport?

The LDMC have screwed us in recent weeks...see my posts in the 1A thread but that said i see no reason why games should be called off after a rugby match...i play soccer i have no interest in peanut hugging and im aware some people do but i have to play a match the morning after a world cup qualifier which to me is much much much more important, but no one kicks up a fuss over this...why?

About playing the morning after a World Cup qualifier , now that's a genuine reason for wanting a cancellation and an area where Junior Leagues across the country are devoid of imagination. You definitely have a valid complaint.

Didnt have a sore head at all just wrecked tired from watching Ricky hatton getting his ass kicked, This was not about drink you making it out that people have drinking problems maybe some do i dont know, It was a Bank holiday weekend people would want to head away for the long weekend and would want to go to Dublin to watch the match, This is not about a Rugby thing, Its about a Limerick thing and in fairness to Munster Rugby its awful lot better to watch than watching Limerick 37.
