Lads,
Lot of disappointment and annoyance amongst our support of the changing of the Derry game to the Thursday night.
Realistically, what affect would the screening of an away friendly have on your crowd.
Also, given this fixture was announced a significant amount of time ago and the fixture list was drawn up after this, it seems late in the day to change it.

Hardly that late, still a month away. It would be on Saturday only for Mervue are playing that day
Also I think you're thread title is ridiculous. Its hardly minnowism

It isn't solely down to United to decide to change it any way. More to do with the FAI I'd say.

Lads,
The Nigeria friendly was announced in February, if it was going to be an issue why not announce the change in date staight away?
As you will be aware, the Ocean races are on that weekend and a number of fans had to pay up front with no refunds for accommodation for the Friday night. The whole reason for staying the Friday night was the fact that the match was on!
Does anyone know why it was changed?

Because of the friendly ffs. We can't change the international friendly or the Ocean Race so we had to change our game

FAI state no league games on same time as international, so all league on fri will be moved (could be wrong)

I understand your frustration, Maribor. I presume that the change is a directive from the FAI. It certainly was not initiated by United, who will probably loose a considerable four-figure sum because of the fixture change.
There are also a lot of supporters (including myself) who would like to see both games. It is not unusual that followers of teams in the domestic league would also follow the International team

Sumac,
I'm one of the fans who follow both and I am flying out to Sofia the same weekend.
Trainee: That directive is in place for competitive games, don't think it is applicable for friendlies
I emailed Galway about it and the email from Nick(fair play on the prompt response) indicated that the club opted for the change, not the FAI.
