According to The Star, Fabio is on his way out after a massive bust up with Sean Connor.

I was told of his unhappiness up there some time ago and it was a matter of when rather than if he was leaving.
And just to back up my claim, I was advised by a current LOI player.

What's the root of his unhappiness? If what you're saying is true (I don't doubt you), then he has been unhappy before the last two games where he was a sub
I heard that there was a 'misunderstanding' following them having lunch together. :)

It's not like Sean Connor to have a bust up with a player so I'm confused.

Would be shocked if he leaves them, despite his reported unhappiness. If he leaves them who is gonna give him full time football, never mind match his wages?

Would he have to wait until the transfer window to get a new club?

Yep he would.

Nope, players who are out of contract can sign for anyone at any stage

Anto Flood was sacked by Dundalk in May '07. Went to Shels shortly after but couldn't play for them until July 1st.

Depends on whether his contract was terminated or not.

It doesn't matter about his contract. Once you register with a club you are tied to them until the next transfer window. Registrations are between the FAI, the player and the club. Contracts are only between the player and the club.

yep. can only play if he was out of contract prior to the closing of the window. otherwise i'm sure there would be loads of 'convenient' sackings of players and then them signing for another club!!

Don't know his circumstances, but the three club rule could have affected him too. If you're sacked, you're a free agent, and free agents can sign outside the transfer window is my understanding.

not if you were sacked after the transfer window closed.
only players who were free agents (unsigned, sacked or mutually cancelled contract) prior to the 23rd feb can sign outside the transfer window.
he won't be able to play with another club in the LoI until 1st July

Regardless if you are under contract or not, once you register for a club you CANNOT leave that club until the next transfer window. It doesn't matter if the contract is cancelled mutually, bought out, ripped up or burned.

How much would it cost to pay up the "sackings" though?
What happens if a player's contract is cancelled by mutual consent; can he move outside the window then?
Dodge

As above its probably a registration thing rather than a contract thing

What happens if a player's contract is cancelled by mutual consent; can he move outside the window then?Presumably not or anyone who wanted to transfer could do that and the window would be meaningless.

This is stage one I think. Next one is another bust-up, with more of a fan favourite and then alienate himself from the fans:)

True. Though that does open it up a lot to some sort of EU anti-freedom of work challenge.

The actual reason, from an interview in the Dundalk FC programme, is that he had Italian relations on his mother's side of the family and his childhood friends called him that as a joke.

From this weeks Dundalk Democrat:
Connor denies O'Brien bust-up
Dundalk manager Sean Connor has rubbished speculation that Declan O'Brien could be set for a move away from Oriel Park in July.
" I don't know where the storey came from. Declan had a hamstring injury and came off against Shelbourne at half-time. He came back the other night in Derry so he hasn't been out of favour"
""It's a complete nonsense storey"
O'Brien is one of five injury concerns that Connor has ahead of the televised clash with champions Bohemians at Dalymount on Friday night.

Just accidently found this, it is translated
Just that feeling led him five years ago to Ireland, where he is the professional football player to get started. The Irish Kusten adventure was partly thanks to the connections of his old team Leonidas. ,, We played annually on New Year a game against an Irish or Northern Irish professional club.''Also organized the Rotterdammers regular training camp in Ireland. ,, During this training, I probably noticed a time,''explains Kusten from.
Several clubs showed interest, but first divisionist Limerick FC finally found the club which would play Kusten. So ended up the born and bred in Rotterdam in the Irish province. Although football was part against - Limerick played all year round bottom - made life a lot rhythm. ,, The Irish have much more time together. There is less stress and therefore, the quality of life higher. It seems that the Irish life more than we do here.''
After that season showed several other Irish club interest. Kusten decided to accept the offer from Sligo Rovers, a club in the first division. A good choice, because with a fixed defensive Kusten value was Sligo Rovers champions and promoted to the highest division. ,, A great year, because next to the good life was also very good football now. Each home game there were some 8000 people in the gallery and took care than a typical English atmosphere, great.''The good feeling appeared mutual, because Sligo coach Sean Connor decided to Kusten to a new contract offer. ,, It was all fine, but he was not really honest about the money. This was ultimately not around.''
The Irish this era lasted only two years for the defender. ,, I would still love, but unfortunately it was ruined by a lying trainer. He (Connor, NP) has recently released his new club Bohemians, because he also players had lied. Not that I now what to do, but it says something.''
Despite the nasty goodbye Kusten is only positive about his Irish period. ,, I have a nice time. People still know who I am when I am visiting. That makes me really well.''
And that beautiful feeling very secretly hopes Yalmard coast still agree to an Irish club. ,, If an Irish club another call, then ga me, although I have everything so well, I still really good about it ...''

Obviously Sean Connor does not have planning permission for an extra storey to some building belonging to him and is denying any knowledge of how it came to be built and he is also trying to argue that a nonsense storey doesn't require planning permission anyway.:D
