Real Madrid defender Pepe has been banned for ten matches for his attacks on Getafe’s Javi Casquero and Juan Albin

Think he got off lightly,should of got a least 6 month ban

I think for the first kick he could claim he was trying to kick the ball but the second one is absolutely disgraceful. Certainly deserves the ban.

Six month ban wouldn't make much difference to him, he'll be banned for the summer. This way he misses the remainder of the season (six games, afaik) and the start of next season.

It wasn't just the kicks.

On the way off the pitch he said to the 4th official "you are all sons of whores"

And he thumped another getafe player in the face as well,saw it in another video but it has been taken down since.

Didn't either a Valencia player(Navarro seems to ring a bell) or it could have been an Inter player get banned for ages for an incident like this?

It was fairly shocking, lucky he didn't connect fully with Casquera. jesus im like eamonn dunphy with the names :(

Do you mean the on pitch brawl between Valencia and Inter in the champions league?

Nicolas Burdisso attacked Valencia defender Carlos Marchena, sparking the brawl. Valencia unused substitute David Navarro then charged onto the field and punched Burdisso. Inter players Julio Ricardo Cruz, Ivan Cordoba, and Maicon then aimed kicks at Navarro as he ran away.

Several Inter players including Cruz, Toldo and Esteban Cambiasso had to be restrained by stadium security and the Spanish Civil Guard from entering the Valencia dressing room.

He was pushed in the back, in fairness; very easy to lose balance at speed when you're pushed over like that. I thought the reaction to the second kick was over the top though - seems only to catch his shirt, not the player. Still a scummy thing to do though.

I would say he was touched in the back, rather than pushed. Seemed like he got the contact he was hoping for, then went down.

I suppose it is irrelevant really as even the most blatant dive wouldn't deserve such retribution.

Hard to tell really, but if he wasn't expecting something as blatant as that (a nudge, maybe, but not a hand-off), then he could easily lose balance at that pace.

But bottom line, yeah, the kicking was nonsense.

IMO, it was definitely a foul in the first place. He was always going to lose balance if he got a nudge at that speed. I'd say Pepe knew exactly what he was doing too.

Ya I though it was a blatent penalty as well. Players go down with minimal contact but there was a very obvious shove here, with no intention of even trying to play the ball.

Maybe the Getafe player went down easy in the 1st instance, but what did Pepe think was going to happen there was a shove maybe it was minimal but its the spanish league and its the name of the game there(Pepe prob of done the same himself)

I have to say I'd be extremely annoyed if they gave a penalty for that 'brush'. I want Pepe unleashed on Drogba!!!

I don't think he dived, and I do think his studs caught his back when he kicked him

However, I would love to see this happening to Drogba, who is a disgrace. Biggest cheat I've ever seen on a pitch.
