Au contraire, Lopez. I am very much here, and delighted to continue your (hitherto unsuccessful) political re-education.
Which reminds me, I have been reading your thesis and will reply separately in a few days.
Though not back on the curry, I am under strict instruction to lose 25% of me, that's about 25Kg. Dunno if it'll be the Catholic part that goes though...
Actually it was my great-grandad, James Dillon, who was the black sheep. Nowt to do with the Fine Gael leader, but he was a RC/ Brit soldier/ father of various acknowledged children (the last allegedly).
Rovers Fan. Generalised description of English/ Northern Ireland fans as "racist scum" is, I'm afraid, rather contradicting the point you're trying to make. As for understanding of Cymric culture, a number of OWC regulars live and/ or regularly attend matches, in Wales. Their understanding may be a little less than yours (which part of Wales do you hail from, btw)? On the other hand, having read through the relevant threads, it seems there was a little spat with a guy who described England fans in the same terms you do, and a suggestion that a Welsh equivalent of foot.ie or OWC was both unnecessarily self-censoring and a little childish. The latter suggestion, incidentally, came from a Welshman.
Oh, and a couple of people were rude about big Johnny Hartson. Not too nice, but little to do with Welsh Culture. And hardly unparalleled on here, eh?
Generally- if anyone addressed here, or anyone else, wants to reply, please send me a PM. Not trying to avoid you, but I'll be busy for the next couple of weeks.
A chara,
DG/ BJS

This is not re-education. It's a reply to my fans on ourweeminds, one of whom is the substitute of the tag team replacing the Army Groupie in this slanging match.

Jodame hombre! Was that you in that team photo of Dav's football team. Said it was you but didn't resemble the bloke I met at the ten pins (or whatever it's called). Was a bit, ahem, tired and emotional that day, though. 25% is a lot, but I must weigh about 100kg and I reckon 10% to extend my life and get me back to running the Luton half marathon. 20% for the body beautiful.

Lopez, if you read my post on the OWC forum properly you'll see I never commented on your opinion of 'The Boxer', I merely suggested that you seem to have been influenced by such. Maybe I'm wrong, do you have a lot of first hand knowledge of NI?
On the matter of the British Forces, you objected to insignia because you thought it was sectarian, did you not? That's not at all at odds with my earlier post if you read it properly.
Also, you seem overly interested in spelling mistakes when your own use of English is not very good. Why is that I wonder?
I knew you'd be irritated by my comments on the OWC forum, the truth often hurts the most. In reality, you've got a hell of a lot in common with the bigots from my side of the fence. In fact, the very people that you object to so strongly. They also have a lot to say, but nothing to add.

The inability to see the two sides of the coin is endemic to the nature of Celtic fans. The Northern situation is always black and white to them.:rolleyes:Seek a 32 county Ireland by all means,Davros, but assuming that over 500,000 of the 6C's population will simply admit they are wrong and role away is short sighted to say the very least.Surely they would not have been such a turbulent history there, had they not reckoned they had some right to remain.
A more realistic means of acheiving 32C's would be for us to move to the 6C's and reproduce like rabbits!;) :D

I hope you're taking the ****. Far be it from me to support the continuing illegal occupation of the 6 counties by Britain, but with an attitude like that its no wonder they're afraid of a united Ireland. "Integrate or F*ck off." Charming- I presume thats what nationalist politicians mean when they say that a United Ireland would pose no threat to Unionists identity. While we're at it, should we also start make everyone dress in a nice IRISH way, make sure everyone goes to mass (just in case that vile facist de Valera MIGHT be spinning in the ground) and make sure everyone conforms- ya know, no long hair, no lefties, no weirdos. People like you had your time, it was Germany 1938

Your post stated: 'I'm interested to see that earlier in the thread, supporting the troops in Iraq or, more accurately, having a debate on the war was seen by Lopez as unacceptable on a football forum.' Again where did I object to any debate on the war? You state that I objected to placing Army insignia on 'sectarian' lines. This, to repeat myself, was that this was a site also talking up the IFAs 'Football For All' initiative to get cross-community support for the team, while highlighting the fact that the 'bigots' at the GAA continue to fly the tricolour in NI. Tell me this, how well is the British Army regarded in working class Catholic areas in NI, the same working class kids that the IFA are trying to entice to WP?

I like people to be able to spell their insults (biggoted, beggers). If I was that concerned of people's spelling I would have had a field day with the Army Groupie. Why is my English so bad? Maybe it's cos I'm not English?;)

Dav unfortunately comes from the school of thought that because he's Protestant he can say these things and claim that they are not in any way abusive. It's a bit like going down to Inglewood with Dr. Dre, Ice Cube and Snoop Doggy Dogg as they call their mates '*******' and their girlfriends 'black hoes'. Watch your head land in your lap if you say the same thing. So talking about my fellow Hiberno-Spanish Plastic and his side kick the Ayatollah McQuaid to him is simply wasting your breath.
Meanwhile over on ourweeminds.
DG, aka BJS, declared this: 'Foot.ie, like OWC, is generally a good read, and hopefully will get over this spat.' I'll agree with you on that Big Man, and perhaps in the cold light of day when we return to our bunkers, it won't just be because OWC makes me laugh.

Interesting, how long did you live in NI for?
Your post stated: 'I'm interested to see that earlier in the thread, supporting the troops in Iraq or, more accurately, having a debate on the war was seen by Lopez as unacceptable on a football forum.'
This is getting tedious. You objected to British military insignia on the OWC site being posted as part of a debate on the war in Iraq, did you not?

You hate the country you were born, and live in, and you get an ego boost because you've had a mention on the web site you despise. Self-loathing is very damaging Lopez, you can pass that on to Davros the prod too when you see him. When you and he get together, who wears the gimp suit and who does the whipping? I'm guessing you're the one who licks under the rim of the toilet seat.
I said:

Didn't think you'd get that, it takes a bit of self awareness to understand. I'll let you live in ignorance though, rather than spoon-feeding you.

None. To save you posting again, as I get the feeling you're looking for an exit plan, my 'first hand' experience of NI is from countless visits and my wife's family. I don't know why you didn't get straight to the point, but I suppose that was too hard for you to comprehend. The next move in that overrated brain of yours is to bring out the line of the Army Groupie: 'You've never lived there, so what do you know?' The thing is that I'd probably have more in common with someone growing up in a sh*t Belfast council estate than a pampered half - wit from the Malone Road with a private school education. If you think I don't then you really are a w*nker. By the way, Davros lived in the O6C. Maybe that's part of the reason you've thrown your rattle out of the pram and stopped talking to him.

The masthead had three military flags with 'Our Wee Country: 100% behind our boys and girls in the gulf.' Where's the debate here? Yes it is getting tedious because you won't answer my questions. Someone else who hasn't heard of Jus Sanguinis. Dear me the ignorance of some people. You and your gimp seem desperate to get rid of me Lopez, that's not very nice now is it? You'll find on the OWC site that everything is up for debate.
Also, you don't seem to be aware of the thousands of members of the British armed forces hailing from the catholic community north and south of the border. Davros,
are you trying to wind this up further? Why do you persist with calling the whole owc site bigoted and calling it ourweebigots or whatever. Obviously cherry picking what you want there. Looking at your posts alone i dont know what anyone would think of this site!

Oh I'm so sorry. The events of 30 January 1972 were just a figment of my imagination. So too were the 148 Catholic civilian victims of the security forces from 1969 to 1989 compared with 25 Protestants, even though the Protestant population is 30% greater. Opinion polls suggest that 3 to 6% of NI's Protestant population favour an reunification with the south. That's between 30 to 60 thousand people. Does that mean that Protestants are nationalist? You really are living in Disneyland aren't you. Yes, there are 'thousands' of Irish Catholics that joined the British armed forces (my uncle joined them), but that figure took a dive after 1972. In fact 1972 was freefall year if the limited people that I know in the British Army that year tell me. This is the crux. Why, put up such a sensitive display of military jingoism on a web site of the 'cross-communal' football team? And you've still not answered my question, where did I object to a debate on the war, or messages of support for troops?

Thanks for the information on the opinion poll, it really hadn't crossed my mind that some protestants may favour breaking the link with the UK:rolleyes:
There are still large amounts of Irish catholics who serve in the British armed forces. There are also many Welsh, Scottish and English who's opinion on Ireland is that it should be one unified state.
In the recent war in Iraq a young Irish guard from Dublin was killed. Do you think he and others just like him would have been offended by a show of support on OWC? I think not.
