We travel to Athlone twice in five days next month. The League Cup game is a 7:45pm kick off on the Tuesday after the Bank Holiday. Will try the same travel arrangements as Tullamore if anyone wants.

Billy Brennan, Gareth Mathews, Ciaran Nangle, Michael Leahy, Luke Hardy, John Dineen, James Timmons, Keith Ward, Timmy Purcell, Peter McMahon, Graham Rusk. Sub: Gavin Falconer, Evan Connolly, Broan Connaughton, Chris Mulhall, Cian Byrne.

Mulhall and falconer came on in the second half.

Even enough game with a alot of good chances created by both sides. Ward for UCD and Onwubiko for Athlone stood out as the creative sparks. Cross wind helped the unpredictability of the game. Graham Rusk found himself charging towards goal with three defenders on his tail. He was able to keep posession and get a shot off on the fly which the 'keeper saved with his legs. Athlone were gettin some joy themselves and Onwubiko sent a shot in on Brennan.
Brennan was as busy as I have seen him in any game and his handling was excellent no forced or un-forced errors that I remember. And he was collecting 0r smoothering the ball at the first attempt.
The goal came from the right wing as most of our play did. previously and afterwards the Athlone goalie was dealing with these crosses but he must have missed this time and Rusk was able to score from close in. The Atyhlone 'keeper did come out of his goal on another occasion and didn't collect. Ward went wide but his cross was cleared. Athlone were dangerous going forward and they had a number of chances which they created in front of a packed UCD defence. On one occassion an Athlone forward slipped his marker and sent in a low teasing cross which everybody missed, twice before that Onwubiko tip-toed himself into position and had clean strikes which went a yard by Brennan's left-hand post. He beat for UCD defenders for one of them.

UCD have maximised their results in the league Cup, its going get difficult if the same players play opponents that are playing regularly either in the 'A' league or for their first team.

I was in Athlone Town Stadium last year but not in the stand. Got up close with the stand and it's every bit as good as how it looks from afar. Wide walkways, clean lines and plenty of leg room. The clubhouse/Town Bar is neat and friendly too.

Two senior away games, two fresh Stadiums for a UCD senior side.
