We're sorry but RTÉ player is currently only available to viewers in Ireland. You can still continue to access a selection of RTÉ programmes on www.rte.ie

I'm in Derry.

In fairness, the player is one day old and looks highly promising

I e-mailed RTE about the poor quality on RP a while ago, and never got a reply :(

It does not work. I find that is ok for watching maybe a 10 minute clip but a disaster if try to watch a full programme. I tried to watch last weeks & even let it load before playing but it died at 12 minutes. :(

I have to admit after checking it out (with the help of my friend Mr. Proxy) it is much better than the RealPlayer crap.

Is there any plans to make RTE Player accesible outside Ireland? Can see it really taking off just like the BBC one...

You mean the BBC one that isn't accessible outside of Britain?

Yeah, you're right, this new yolk does look promising, and its working away for me now...

Its long overdue though. Up until now, their online facilities have been shocking. Would try to watch shows like "Raw" online and they would invariably go on a loop after 15 minutes...

Yeah RTÉ's online presence has been dire. I really like the interface of the RTÉ player, and I can't wait til more content gets added. Does anyone know if there will be an archive of old RTÉ programmes on it like 4 OnDemand or will it be a catch-up only service like BBC iPlayer?

On a related note, BBC iPlayer is going to offer true HD very soon, for a selected number of programmes. Great if you have a PC with a HDMI connector. I'll be able to watch their shows on my telly with class picture.

Up to now their online presence has looked great until you actually try to use it. :p

As it is a BETA, it isn't the finished article. Jesus, you Bohs fans are quite arsey today.

My head is so buried up the hole of the effect religion had on the expansion of the Spanish Empire that I can't think straight!

And RTÉ player won't let me on anymore!

does the RTEplayer play MNS live, or do you have to wait till after the show to watch it?

You can watch it live Here (http://www.rte.ie/live/) best thing is you can watch it with windows media player so no need for real player.

If you want to watch it afterwards though, I think this meant to be a good replacement for real player Real alternative (http://www.codecguide.com/download_real.htm)
