Derry boosted by Doherty recovery
Derry City manager Stephen Kenny has been boosted by the return to fitness of goalkeeper Gerard Doherty well ahead of schedule. Doherty had been expected to face a lengthy period on the sidelines after picking up a knee injury against Sligo Rovers recently.
But he has returned to training with the Candystripes and while Friday’s meeting with Dundalk is expected to come too soon, Doherty will be available again within a fortnight. Pat Jennings deputized for the 1-1 draw with Bray Wanderers four days ago and will stand in once more for the visit of the Lilywhites this weekend.
