The wife is a weather-watcher, she recommends Met Eireann (http://www.met.ie/) and AccuWeather (http://www.accuweather.com/). AccuWeather has a Firefox Add On.

Yes,yahoo.com/weather is good.I go hiking most weekends and that website gives a pretty accurate forecast for about 7 days in advance so i can plan my trip a good bit in advance.The site actually gives weather for 10 days but ive found the last 2/3 days arent as accurate.

Theyr.tv (http://theyr.tv/index.html) is the best by a street, specially for forecasting the more adverse weather, if you know what I mean, your gales and squalls and what not. 'Might I be killed?' as opposed to 'will I get a bit damp?' :D
We use it at work, but it's a subscription service, 50 yo-yos a year or so I think, and there's also a monthly tariff.
Depends what you need really. If you were doing a bit of sailing, or climbing maybe, I'd say it'd be worth it. If you just want the general forecast go with the above.

I wouldn't trust any weather forecasts for Ireland more than 1 day in advance. Seems to be difficult to predict due to our location?

Met Eireann is first on my list.
BBC is good too, as is Weatherweb (http://www.weatherweb.net/uksail.htm). BBC gives a simple 5 day summary, whereas the latter gives detailed charts.It's focused on sailing, which is what I use it for, but a chart is a chart.

I've occasionally saddled up and ventured forth to the Met Éireann site but have been generally left 'all at see' to be honest. Maybe they've improved it since, but I certainly remember being disappointed with it given their prominence as State Meteorologist.

I use AccuWeather the most and have the add-on installed. I find the forecast fairly reasonable, its main benefit being its localised dimension - you can enter your town/city and get a forecast for there. Another handy feature is that it does hour-by-hour specificity. The add-on is also useful as it is a constant reminder of the upcoming weather and how your plans may need to be tailored accordingly; and also it's nice for anyone generally rapt by the weather.

I suppose it's also important to know the "microclimate" of your area. For example, I sometimes play a little golf. My local course is situated several miles from my home and it would not at all be unusual to discover that a rainy, miserable day at home can contrast with a fairly pleasant day at the course. In general I must say I am fascinated by the meteorological vagaries of Earth. :)
