I can't see everything being fine for too much longer if they really do have a wage bill approaching €140k a month. Don't interpret that as wishing ill on Cork now Cork fans just genuinely don't see it adding up.

Everything is fine apparently neither Coughlan, the FAI or the PFAI are worried at the moment.
bloody hell are things that bad
BTW, The amount of dancing on graves on this thread is sickening.
I'm certainly not, but your childish comment re petrol and FAI offices was a really stupid statement to make.
As a fan of irish football for over 30 years* I realy hope Cork can sort things out, would be a real shame to lose a club of their size, support and excellent ground. But they cant be alowed to just brush over the o/s debts and massive reported tax bill. Most other clubs with sizeable wages have a standing order scheme in place where income tax is collected each month, I cant specifically name any, but I know this is how we pay our taxes, and it means you are up to date. Also I think a lot of us are just sick and tired at the amount of clubs who are still living well beyond their means, and still doing this 6 months into a recession, so maybe not dancing on graves, but do you honestly expect everyone to feel all of your pain ?
* I remember a sheet collection going around oriel pk in the early 80`s for one of the previous Cork entities, possibly Cork Utd, I thjink I gave in my pocket money of 50p, so maybe this is something you could try on Friday night ?
The Cork forum and I think one of the papers mentions a wage bill of 140k per month.
If that's even remotely near the truth then I suspect CCFC is a dead club walking.
Edit: the paper was the Echo.

There's nothing to worry about here.
What, spending huge amounts on wages can lead to financial difficulties?
It's like these guys visited the Cork boardroom.

It's an absolute farce that cobh got demoted and cork didn't. Give a crap if the league needs a strong cork, it's simply unfair that cobh were treated differently just because cork are perceived to be important.
Well were not bitter for one reason, we deserved to get the treatment we did. But we always knew city's debt at the time was over 1 mill, reportedly 1.3, ours was 400-500k, we owed the taxman 150k they owed 500k. Make sense to ye the difference in treatment?? Answers on a postcard please.
For all the cobh people losing the run of themselves its not like we have not paid a bill or we are in debt.YET
We can't get demoted for something that did not happen yet;)
yet, exactly, coughlans ****ed well known round cobh. Yere home if were to look at your address ha
Nobody in Cobh will be losing the run of themselves over this its the proper run clubs that may have questions that need answering from the top,as pointed out we were relegated with our first division team and further relegated for paying them premier wages-nobody to blame but the chairman....Surely the appointment of Paul Doolin was the final factor in any Cork fans evaluation of Tom the plank.
Exactly UCD(Pete Mahon) must be going mad!! God love him!!
actually we did submit audited accounts, they may have been late but we submitted them
Don we submitted them weeks late, not good enough.

anyway back to the embarrassment of irish football (CCFC). I am a great believer in karma and what CCFC are getting now is through no ones fault but their own. Last time around we where all made to believe that it was all "Arkagas fault". Now ye have nobody to blame but yourselves.
I do wonder what the next cork team will be known as. They've used fordsons, celtic, athlethic, hibs to name a few. the next one should be "langers"
What on earth are you talking about? Who's ye? Grow up ffs.

400k tax bill.
Hmmm.
If the Drogs fans can raise that then I have no doubt that the Cork fans could.
What kind of timeframe are we looking at here? The club would almost certainly be handed over to FORAS if such a campaign is succesful?

The situation is not comparable to the Drogheda situation.
Drogs had to pay off around 300k in total.
IF the above figure is correct not only would that be owed but also current contracts would have to be honored, any other existing bills would ahve to be paid etc etc.
Its far from as 'simple' as just raising 400k

The day is darkest before the dawn, but the dawn is coming.
Clubs like Cork and Bohs have to be made suffer in order for them to get their act together and run themselves like something that resembles a business.
Coughlan in today's echo states that the club is financially sound, which is all any supporter wanted to know, the chairman coming out and addressing supporters concerns. So, I guess the panic is over.So this huge 223 post thread was a complete waste of time with all of it pure rumour which was completely unfounded.
now theres a turn up for the books.

Would anyone in Cork Believe a word he says though.
Ah, but what if he said: 'This statement is a lie'. What would they believe then?
Thread title changed as it is alarmist in the absence of any proven facts.
Only had a chance to skip through the 12 pages but seems the numbers quoted are still pure speculation. Maybe Foras EGM will see some facts emerge but not sure how any one can provide definitive proof anbout taxes.

If theres one good thing to come from this thread it has left the Corkies know in no uncertain terms what a percentage of people round the country thought & think of them. At least they will have reference points in case they are ever unsure. Just planting seeds folks, planting seeds....................

Paul Doolin has us in a great position at this moment and time love him or hate him;)
the differnece being ye had a deal with the taxman accepted, we didnt, even though we owed half of what ye owed,
Possibly because we had someone new coming on board

If this is true it's a shambles of the FAI's own making. The blame lies with them for allowing Cork to get a licence.
How exactly ?
If they hadn't given them a licence how would that make the situation better?
The club would have folded without a licence , going to the A league would not have been an option.

Simple Answer - Cork aren't in debt. The FORAS meeting on Sunday came to nothing.
Where did the OP get this from then? What went on at the meeting?

It confirmed that all the rumours were just that ... rumours. It was confirmed as well the the rumours didn't come for FORAS and the club claim it didn't come from them.
Papers etc. just printing cobblers and playing dumb when it all came out in the wash.

Yes. No facts to back up the rumour.
The wages issue has been resolved. The PFAI would not be silent if that wasn't the case.
Can't say what the future will hold but the club owner says the future is secure so can only accept his word at this stage.

I presume he means that wages are due in the next week. If Coughlan pulls off paying everyone this month with only one home gate(Galway) then it's a good sign.
