On the flip side, I think he is an excellent first division manager, based soley on his performance with Kilkenny City.

That Rovers side was a half decent premier side, the Kilkenny City side wasnt.

Limerick announced it at a board meeting tonight. They are really contradicting themselves seeing as they said Mike Kerley was looking for too much money and then they appoint Scully. As i posted here the other day McCarthy told the local radio he couldn't afford what Scully was loking for, i wonder is somebody paying Scully's wages, wouldn't take a genius to know who that would be. I hope they do well and i hope this won't fall part in a few months when the money isn't flwing into the club
How many assumptions can one guy make in a post?
Were you at the board meeting?
Do you even know how much Kerley was on?
Do you know what Scully was looking for?
Do you know what we would have offered Scully?
No, you've got the usual Limerick source of some guy told some other guy and you heard it off that guys cousin

Run along seniorblue. You say you support the club and yet you've tried to turn what would be a real coup for the club into something completely negative by mouthing off about Limerick contradicting themselves, how we can't afford it and making the usual sneery remarks of so many juniorballers.
I see you signed up this month, wouldn't be one of those clowns that got kicked off the site recently trying a different tactic in your oh so great wind up attempts would you?
Wait for an announcement, an official one, not one from the auld lad who drinks in the Spotted Dog and come back to us then

Lads, while he might cost a bit, he is an excellent manager. He transformed Kilkenny City for all of one year, and re-established Shamrock Rovers as a top five side. Also both jobs were done on minimal budgets

yes i agree he would be good i think but i would much rather they spend the money on new players
I'd rather we spent the money on a manager like Scully to be fair. I know our squad is small but our first team can beat anyone on their day, if Scully could bring what he brought to Kilkenny and Rovers to us we'd be in contention for promotion, no doubt
lads in all fairness he would be good for us but hes wages it could really **** us up at the end he wundt be a long term mananger just with us till a better club+offer came along we would have been better with someone local and long term

But if he improved ye, surley attendances would receive a boost, and ye're profile would be raised. Even if he only stayed a year, I think he'd do a good job, and leave ye in a good state for the next person to come in

enough about the wages, if scully was comming our way he or anybody whos getting appointed wont come close to what the previous manager was getting, the last financial commitment of the previous CEO....id like to get scully, or any manager at this stage.

Heard this on news at nine this morning on Spin South West (Limericks New Sponsor) News. Must be true if they are saying it considering their link to Limerick FC. Great Appointment in my eyes. Could maybe push for promotion based on his previous records with other clubs.

Great appointment particularly as he's on less money than Kerley was. There are no certainties in football but Scully isn't coming down here to make up the numbers or waste time. He's got an excellent record as a manager in this division, is pretty high profile in terms of the League of Ireland and we couldn't have looked for any more than that.
That's he's affordable was essential and having ticked that box it's the most positive thing that's happened to the club on the field in a long time. The Mervue game aside we've been a shapeless mess this season and we needed a manager.

not to be knockin pat scully before he's even started the job or even been confirmed but speaking to a lad from dublin who played for him and he said as good a tactician as he is he has poor man management skills, would he be able to get the likes of Robbie Kelliher back interested and fit, he'd be a great addition if he could!!
on a different note, does anybody know where jimmy fyfe is playing these days or if at all!!

That could just be on disgruntled ex-player too. Even in my odd decade of following the club we've *NEVER* had a manager who hasn't fallen out with at least a few players. If he keeps things on track on the field and it costs us a few players... not necessarily a problem unless it ruins whatever sort of team morale we've amassed.

I'd love to see a fit, focused Robbie Kelleher back. One of the most naturally gifted footballers I've ever seen play for Limerick. Don't know the ins and outs but not convinced he's all all that pushed about coming back. Scully took him to Rovers though didn't he? So maybe.

Don't think he is playing anymore.

senior blue maybe deserves an apology off "the people in the know" on this site. didnt something like this happen when kerley left. someone posted in saying he was gone and he was attacked on this site. some people need to get over themselves.
great appointment by the club. hopefully Limerick can match his standards and ambitions.

Great appointment, I think and who cares what the cost is as long as the team are performing, it's not like it's coming out of your pockets.
I'd gladly pay an extra few euro at the gate if the club shows this kind of ambition.
As for seniorblue, all you who jumped down his throat do owe an apology. Maybe some of you know this guy but it sounds like you lot are jealous he got the info out there before you did???? Maybe.

I have no doubt robbie is good enough i dont know if hes mentally strong enough to get back too that fitness we would hate to lose him as he is still the best at holding up the ball but its down too himself best of luck too him he has gave us good service.

totally agree with you denis. I know the people involved do great voluntary work for the club but they need not be so offended if someone got the story before ye. more importantly anyway hopefully this will kick start our season.

Interesting to see what kind of a team Scully will pick and what kind of way he will set the team up to play. First match against Shels will be interesting, especially if he has an almost fully fit team. He knows plenty about Wayne and Tommy anyway after having them at Rovers for a few months. A draw in his first game against Shels in Tolka would be a very decent result.

Thought wayne played excellent last season. Hughes and wayne aren't the biggest but when they played a few matches together last season they practically ran the midfield. The sooner the two are back the better.

Wayne was our best player last year in my opinion.
He's been sick apparantly in recent weeks, has only played v UCD so far and he was subbed 2nd half cos he was wrecked.
Cant wait to see him back and fully fit, his commitment on the field is second to none :ball:
...oh yeah, and thats brilliant news about Pat Scully, this is gonna be great :)

The only ones being negative are the juniorballers,I along with those who are first and foremost limerick Fc supporters are delighted with this appointment.i agree that we should not expect too much too quickly but i think we have the raw talent and now it seems a young and exciting manager.Lookin good.:)

Lads cut out the nonsense ffs. Stay on topic, I've already thrown something like 11 posts from this thread into rubbish, left another couple that could have probably gone again and resisted tossing infractions around like confetti too.
There was nothing wrong with the original post. At all.
One of the most positive things to happen to senior football in Limerick in years and there's mostly just people acting the child about it on the internet. The WUMs and the clowns who indulge them are just as bad as each other.
Once more I'm delighted that Pat Scully is now the manager of Limerick FC, it's the most progressive step we've taken in a long, long time! :)

Great appointment by the club, Shels game has already been written off by a lot of us due to the amount of players missing but maybe a new manager might give the rest a boost on Friday.
Get our best starting XI on the pitch and Scully on the side and we're pushing for playoffs.

Pats - he won't get offered the job
Rovers - well obviously...
Bohs - LOLOLOLOL
So it won't really be an issue, will it
As I said on the main forum. Great move by Limerick
Scully wouldn't move to a club with an uncertain future so its a positive sign all round
Good luck to him
