Kerley considering Lims future

Limerick FC manager Mike Kerley, who made light of a debilitating financial crisis at the First Division club to keep them right in the promotion hunt until the second leg of the play-offs, has revealed that he is considering his future at the Shannonside club.

Kerley took over from highly-regarded manager Noel O’Connor at the beginning of the season, and was widely believed to hold one of the most difficult jobs in the eircom League at a club with little ambition and less money.

As the true extent of the club’s cash-flow problems became apparent during the season, the club’s very future was in grave doubt.

But although they battled on gamely in the latter half of the season and produced an incredible run of results to force their way into the play-off picture, Limerick are still not out of trouble, and Kerley needs assurances that the money will be raised to keep the club competitive next season.

He said: "A lot of work needs to be done to get the money in for the club to survive, but also to have a realistic chance of challenging for promotion. I am not sure whether I will be staying on. I’ll wait and see, but if things improve I’d like to think I might be able to remain in charge."

Who would blame him? he's proven himself as one of the best managers in the country this season. I'm sure there are a lot of clubs would love to take him on. He needs to put it up to the board right now, hopefully they can come up with something that can convince him to stay.

Sounds like a 'come and get me' call to other clubs, to me. I'd say he's amazed at the success he's had this season, and perhaps feels he deserves more out of the game.At the end of the day, the current committee have ensured that nobody should feel the urge to remain loyal to them, so it's hard to blame anyone for setting their stall out.
