Limerick FC take on Waterford United in a First Division clash in Jackman Park on Friday the 24th. Limerick will try and continue the good run of form under new manager Pat Scully which has seen them concede only one league goal in the last four league games. However in Waterford they face a team who put six in the Monaghan net last weekend, and Limerick will be weakened by the loss of Jamie Hughes on International duty with Ireland's underage team.

There you go, I wrote that in approximately 3 minutes without accessing any other sources whatsoever (note the vagueness about which team Hughes will be playing for, is it under-19s?).

Are you saying that Donn seriously does not have the time and resources needed (3 minutes and no resources) to submit that to the newspaper? Or are you saying that Limerick FC does not merit even an article of such brevity?
At least get the young lads name correct.......

At least get the young lads name correct.......Point taken, but as I said, I didn't access any resources. If I had, I would have put in league positions and so on.

My point being, to say that there was no time to put in an article is rubbish.

[quote=inmoscow;1149442]That arsewipe you refer to,was the only scribe in the town, that had anything positive to write about us in the last few years.

Are you refering to the crap he wrote a few weeks ago that started this thread! Maybe you missed that weeks issue.

,therefore limited by space and importance of articles.

What a load of crap, explain why they didnt even mention the game in the fixtures section then? Plenty of foreign fixtures mentioned though.

Folks, I've had occasion myself to wonder about the volume (or lack thereof), quality and particularily the tone of some of the coverage Limerick get.

But rather than running down what little coverage the club gets can I suggest something a little more pro-active. There are plenty here who provide detailed coverage of games. In my fading experience of dealing with the print media they appear to be getting taught two moves at journalism school these days ...copy and paste.

CC your match reports and musings to the desks of the relevant individuals. They might not use it verbatim (...they might either so don't be getting too uppity about wanting your article fee) but it might well help add colour and tone to the articles that go to print.

WTF? Is it your inability to make sense the reason you've not been on here for a while?

I've got to say you have not been missed. At least some of the WUMs display a sense of humour at times. And what's really worse, fans of a small football club being thin-skinned about media coverage or the appendix of local media displaying extraordinarily thin skin about fans of a small football club?

Havin been the first to knock Donn on this thread,i'll take my hat off to him this week for his article and apology over last weeks omission. Its all well and good to have a go at him but its only fair to give him some slack when he puts in a good article and acknowledges mistakes. I was surprised to see the club get a mention considering the "Big Match" in Dublin.
Also it seems our voices are listened to hear so keep up the good work everyone and well done this week Donn

Have to admit I have been one of Donns biggest critics on this thread but at least he apologised for his "error". Positve review this week and what it should be like. The smart comment at the end is as if he was gettin at us on this forum but suppose he was allowed that with the comments we've made. Ya we've been harsh with him but we only want good publicity for the club. We want good turnouts at matches which in turn will provide better facilities through improved income streams and hence better players will be attacted which in turn leads to success. Bad publicity puts people off going to matches and thats the only reason we were getting kinda ****ed off with Donn over the past months but this week has improved and more of the same please

Am I the only one who thought his pot shot at his critics on here was a bit immature so?

Everyones allowed an opinion but he's supposed to act with a bit more professionalism than someone randomly posting on an internet forum no?

Well done Donn, well answered. Keep up the good work. Some of us always knew you had the best interest of the club at heart.
I had said earlier that criticism is accepted so long as it's constructive and well founded. However some people tend to take it all so personally when someone has a shot at the club, even when they're right.
I'd rather have someone telling me the awful truth than make up crap about how well everything is when at times its not.
Again keep up the good work Donn.

In this case, the criticism of the Post was the absence of any coverage whatsoever last week, not that he was telling us hard truths we didn't want to hear.

No, check again. The thread started with a pat on the back for a letter to the post in response to an article Donn wrote and from there it snowballed into torches and pitchforks. He apologised for not covering the club in recent weeks because he had other engagements, he never apologised for the article because I think, like me, he believes football is a matter of opinion and so printed the responding letter in conflict to his own views.
This thread however turned into a unfair witch hunt that got personal and knocked almost everything the guy said or didn't say.

When he writes about the club he's wrong when dosen't he's not giving enough coverage??? I think he can't win with some people.
Listen I've said it earlier, there's no secret his first love is all things rugby and Munster, but he's the chief sports writer with the post so live with it. I'm sure if they could afford it the post would get someone else to cover the football and let Donn do what he wants to do and that's to cover the rugby. But in case you haven't noticed we're struggling with a recession, maybe one of the guys on here could do it for free.:D
And yeah, I've seen him a couple of times in Jackman Park. I've said that earlier as well.

Go on so, I'll do it. We know Donn reads so I'll let him get in touch with me.

While the flaming torches and pitchforks crowd are usually in the wrong referring to them as 'fans' (the parenthesis were his and not mine) is fairly immature from any adult.

Oh dear oh dear, what will the post write about now after Munsters hammering today? They might acually print our fixtures now.

Or maybe they will continue to cream themselves over Munsters lions.

Finally, Im not the only one. That donn guy writes utter bullsh!t. If it does not have an oval ball (ie Munster or Irish Rugby its gonna be somet negative). That guy is so biased towards rugby that he should not be allowed to be a sports journalist. He claimed he goes to the matches, not once have I seen him attend a match so the rubbish he writes must be based on match reports. HE REALLY ****ES ME OFF. gonna stop now before i say too much!!!!!:mad:

totally agree he is rugby biased big time  and soccer in particular seems to get terrible press reports of him..
