Should be a good game. Not the strongest of opponents but should give us a better understanding of where we are than the Mervue game. Weather is lovely at the moment so hopefully that will spur an extra few to come to the game and give the lads support. Can see a 2-0 win here, Hopefully. Manjur to get the second . Hopefully ye all bring yer vocal chords intact for this one!!! Come on the Super Blues!

Republic of Ireland playing Northern Ireland tonight in and under 18 match. Hughes will probably be playing in this as he is the captain.

Poor enough match tonight. Boring as hell, just like the last two home matches against Athlone. Davey Ryan came on and missed a sitter, i think it was harder to header it over than in the back of the net, no fault though, was just the way he caught it. Athlone fans where beaming with their no score draw which i was dissapointed to see. The only thing they should take from it is there solid defense, barr that it was a pretty depressing performance by them and they had no interest in really winning the match.
The sooner the whole squad gets together with a manager the better. The two lads are doing a good job but we need someone in with a gameplan for how he wants the team to play for the season.

Thought tonight was very poor, Limerick are not fit enough. In fairness Davey Ryan had three great chances and he will be the first to admit the header was an unbelievable miss, but at least he tried hard when he came on as i flt a couple of players just weren't and possibly aren't up to it. O Brien and Goggin are not good enough and when Wayne and Hughes come back they will be on the bench. We lacked any support for Tierney tonight and I thought we missed Cummins threat. As for the management yes they are doin an okay job but if MIke Kerley or anoter experiened manager was there then in the last 25 minutes we would have picked them off, there just didn't seem to be a Plan B from the sideline. Anyway we are unbeaten at home, decent crown in again and set up a big game against Shels. Interesting to see Jack and Pat Scully talking at the game!!!!!!

Are you for real? I wasnt at the game but from what i believe the game was spoiled by an over fussy referee and a field which resembled a football pitch. Would Limerick fans be "beaming" if they were playing away from home, down to ten men for the last twenty five minutes and came away with a point? Think i know the answer.
No interest in winning the match you say? How many teams will come away from your ground with three points do you think? Lets see what Limerick are like on a real pitch ...........
I thought Limerick were poor tonight anyway, bar Tierney who worked his socks off, Walshe who is too good for this league and Davy in goals who in fairness didn't have much to do. I know everyone will say that if we can't beat Athlone (who are very poor) at home then we're not going anywhere but keep in mind that we lost it(drew it) in midfield, a midfield that will soon have our proper partnership of Hughes and Colbert, then we'll see what we're about

Agree with you jebus,
Midfield is killin us.No direction from the centre and no-one there for the breakdowns.Jason and Wayne will make a massive difference in controling that area.was diaaspointed not to see us go for it when they went down to 10 men. They should have gone 3 at the back and thrown Danno up front as a target man. I think a good manager would have altered things at that stage. The pitch is awful and with Limerick trying to play a passing game(they have the players to do it) i think we'll do better away from home on better pitch's.
lads how come Mark Gough was in charge of this game,he is from Limerick after all,is this common practice in LOI,genuine question :ball:

Found that odd too, don't think it's common practice in the LoI either
To say we were beaming is a bit much, but we were happy with a point and a clean sheet considering the pitch was woeful,
the ref was shocking and we were down to 10 men for the last 20 mins or so. We tried to play football on a surface that would
be better suited to rugby, or possibly trenches for the next World War.
I was also very vext that I didnt win the half time raffle :p
no one wins those raffles;)its a big con:p

We didn't do enough, thought changes could have been made sooner, I'd have thrown Dano up front, ye deserved the point. Cleary could have done a job for us last night is he another fallout from the Kerly saga

how dare any of you suggest that the half time draw is a fix :p its all done above bord and if anyone would like to join either myself or kev b in the selling and "drawing" of the draw then please dont hesitate to get involved. Thought we were ****e last night. Athlone are the same but special mention to the ref who clearly didnt show any bias and was crap to both teams. The pitch issue isnt somthing limerick fc can do much about. although we have a full time pitch guy in there (ours as in limerick fc) he can do little to maintain the pitch when the owners the LDMC run a match a night on it for their own leagues. its a downside in being a tennant

Very funny... :D
Shame about the result last night. Thought, along with the entire shed, that the effort from the sub (Dave Ryan?) from the far side had drifted into the top corner. Then there was the header over the bar, the header from the free kick at the start of the first half...the list goes on! Just wasn't meant to be - and had 0-0 written all over it for long periods of the match.
The two lads in the centre of midfield were nowhere to be found on a few occasions, and left the Athlone central partnership way too much room to collect and distribute the ball.
Can someone tell me, as i'm still trying to put names to the players, who the number 8 was last night? His set pieces are cracking!!

The two lads are doing a good job but we need someone in with a gameplan for how he wants the team to play for the season.
Are they? We're more or less devoid of shape from one end of the pitch to the other to honest. McGuinness had maybe 2 saves to make including the one that led to his red card and Shanahan had maybe 2-3 more when he replaced him. Most of those were fairly routine too. Even allowing for the players out we created next to nothing.
lads how come Mark Gough was in charge of this game,he is from Limerick after all,is this common practice in LOI,genuine question :ball:
I think it happens quite a lot, particualry in Dublin. It's not as if Gough is a hardcore, died in the wool Limerick fan anyway.
No he isn't. He is on co-op up in Dublin for eight months so didn't sign due to that.
Brian Clearly was no better than adequate anyway. Certainly he doesn't offer any more than Deady or O'Brien. No big loss.

Brian Cleary, from Ballinsloe, is in UL and played with limerick last year. Played all his previous football with the athlone under 21s etc. Started at left back for us last year and was woeful. but in the last half of the season (possibly with better players around him) he became rock solid. Doing co op in Dublin this year so friday night football was going to be a problem for him. (made it last night the gitt) Athlone play on saturdays so....
The pitch issue isnt somthing limerick fc can do much about. although we have a full time pitch guy in there (ours as in limerick fc) he can do little to maintain the pitch when the owners the LDMC run a match a night on it for their own leagues. its a downside in being a tennant
well beggars can't be choosers gael, the LDMC are a joke plain and simple, they will do nothing for Limerick, they do nothing for the junior clubs, all they are interested in is making money,i wouldn't say there's a game a night on the pitch, more like 1 a week and the odd time 2,and come the end of the season there will be more with divisional cup finals being held there, the quicker limerick get their own ground sorted(with proper changing facilities)the better for them,Jackman is an embarrassment of a ground

Poor game on a poor pitch made worse by a poor ref made even worse by the biggest shower of cheats and time wasters (Athlone) since Wexfords last visit.
No leadership on or off the field sooner we get Jason, Wayne and Yellow back in the mid-field the better cause last night was poor.
Danno had a good game though and thought Tierney put in a good showing.
That is all. :)

poor show really,o brien and goggins out of their depth, tommy had a shocker and thought both centre halfs very poor despite athlone not creating much.no tactical change in formation even though athlone down to ten men.deady setpieces excellent but he is too light ,tierney the only bright spark.all we did was lump the ball up in the air and had a poor shape about us.no plaudits to the shed either,a few of us left it after hearing some disgraceful chants,no place for it really.

No I'd do the sensible thing and take my kids away from the stand
What do you expect the club to do by the way? Ask people to stop using the English language? Cause people don't seem to realise that that's what swearing is, whether you like it or not
