UCD v Monaghan United.
This Friday Monaghan United travel to play UCD in their 2nd away game of the season. The ‘Students’ who made the drop from the Premier Division last season would appear to be keen on returning there without delay, they have collected all six points from their first two outings.
In the first game they defeated Limerick 2-1 and on Friday they had a 1-0 win over their fellow metropolitans and one of many people favourites for promotion last season – Sporting Fingal, those results mean that they are league leaders. They kicked off the new season with only one player from last years first X1 and had six players making their debut. In Martin Russell, UCD have appointed a new manager he was assistant to former manager Pete Mahon.
Our last outing against UCD was in the FORD/FAI Cup last season when we defeated them 1-0 at Belfield. United’s Manager Mick Cooke will be hoping for a repeat performance on Friday and on recent form against Longford and Shelbourne are more than capable of getting the results. Few who were at both games could dispute that Monaghan United were the better team on each occasion and with a bit more luck should be on 6 points at this stage. Hopefully we will again have a good turn out especially of our Dublin based supporters for the 7.45.p.m. kick off.
Mini Leagues
Note : There will be no Mini Leagues this weekend but they will resume the following week. As usual under 8’s are from11.a.m. to noon and under 11’s are 12-1.p.m.

Underage Training
Due to the commencement of development works and the Safety and Health issues arising from the fact that that part of the grounds is a work site there will be no underage training on the grass pitches, however training will take place on the Astro pitches which are available until 6.30.p.m. at which time they must be vacated.
Pub - Penalty Competition
In continuing our policy of having half time entertainment at our homes games we have decided to run a Fun Penalty Inter-Pub Competition. It will be open to all licensed premises throughout the county and the general catchments area of Monaghan United. It will be a knock out competition with two teams of three competing during the half time interval.
And the good news is that is free to enter, so we would encourage all pubs to get involved. For further details contact Padraig at the Clubhouse 047 84798.
