Lads,

I see that Bet365 and Paddy Power are doing odds on who will get who in the Champions League Quarter-Final draw this Friday.

It's 11/2 across the board eg. 11/2 for Man Utd to get Liverpool or Man Utd to get Arsenal, etc.

Do an accumulator on the 4 ties in the draw (That's 11/2 by 4) and you're looking at 1784.06/1. It's definately worth a go anyway

Your maths is off. It's 11/2 multiplied by itself 4 times. 5.5 to the power of 4.

In any case, the odds on getting that right are pretty long.

No it's 6.5 to the power of 4 so the OP is correct.
In any case it's terrible odds.
You should be getting 7/1 on each for it to be a fair/value bet, otherwise it's a bet for mug punters!

No my maths are fine, maybe I phrased it slightly wrong. If you go onto Paddy Power Power Bet calculator and put in 11/2, 11/2, 11/2, 11/2 into an accumulator with a €1 stake you'll see the odds will be 1784/1. Anyway it's all the one as Paddy Power are only allowing bets on single draws. Liverpool V Man Utd @ 11/2 will be my guess anyway.

6/1, you can't draw yourself.

D'OH, yes you're right!

In any case it means they are giving 11/2 on a 6/1 shot

That'd be a normal enough profit margin though wouldn't it?

eL Bettor

Yes but in this case it is clear to see that it is a mug's bet.
On normal markets, it is debatable as to the "true" odds on any event.

Doesn't stop people doing the lotto though!

The lotto is a tax on those who are bad at maths!

Got Man Utd and Barca to meet in the final at 10/3 with Boyles. Easy draw for Man Utd and Barca are a level above all the other teams in the competition imo.

Decent value in that betting for the UEFA Cup too. Must have a look at it properly tomorrow.

Stuck a few bob on Chelsea tonight 12-5 and on Drogba to score first 7-1.

Just to spice it up really.

Ack, then you'd have to have accounts all over the place and I wouldn't really be arsed with that to be honest.

Bayern -V- Barca

I’m having a shot on Ribery to score anytime @ 10/3 with Hills tonight. This lad is one of the best wingers in the world at the moment. He is also the normal penalty taker which is another bonus. When the pressure is on you can look on him to score a goal. The French had back to back games against Lithuania a fortnight ago winning both 1-0. Ribery bagged the goals in each game. For Bayern this season, Domestic and European, he has played in 29 games scoring 11. That’s a very decent return for a player in that position. The 10/3 is too big for me to ignore.

Ribery to score @ 10/3 (Hills) - 2pts.

Excellent stuff RR! I placed a few quid on him on your advice, Will Hill's price was a little out of line with the other bookies alright.
I didnt know the result til seeing the highlights on RTE so happy days watching him score!

Did any of you get an email from betfair saying if you placed a €10 multiples bet on the 4 QFs and only 1 selection let you down you'd get your money back?
I went with 2 draws tonight and Man Utd and Arsenal to win tomorrow (sorry for the after-timing regarding the draws!)

Yeah was a great price with them considering he was playing just behind Toni and not in his usual position on the left.

They could win by any number of scorelines, what makes you think 2-0? No greater chance of that than 1-0, 2-1, 3-1, 3-0, 3-2 etc.

Never understood the reasoning behind scoreline bets.

2-0 would be more likely than 3-0 or 3-2!
Correct score betting is not necessarily a mug's bet.
If he backed it at the best available odds it may have been a value bet.

Simple. Because I thought they would win 2-0.

Considering their huge superiority to City in the first game I think 11-4 on Hamburg (PP) is a decent price.

Arsenal are even money to draw or win at Old Trafford on Wednesday with expekt. That strikes me as reasonable. They really have been playing well recently. The only question mark is the fact that Arshavin can't play.
What do you guys think? Worth a cheeky punt?

Mr A

I think so, they've been playing very well.

Also, Chelsea at 4-1 to beat Barca looks like value to me.
