The first division looks to be exciting this year with a lot of teams looking strong. Even teams like Monaghan appear to have put together a decent panel. Athlone are off to a good start. Wexford were unlucky in Dublin against Shels. Early favourites are Sporting Fingal and Shels but dont rule out Waterford, UCD, or Finn Harps. Dont know too much about Limerick 37 this year and surely Kildare County are after getting a boost by getting back in. Mervue may struggle but you would never know. Longford got off to a flyer 3 up at half time to Mons but got caught for a draw. So as I see theres hope for all. Get out and support your clubs as often as you can. Waterford offered a free under 16 season ticket with an adults one this season. What have other clubs done?

Longford and Mons looked good Saturday..Atrocious weather too.Must say Fingal should win it but 5-6 clubs could reach play offs

The fact that there are two play off spots should mean that it'll be interesting all the way - Shels and Fingal battling for the automatic spot and then possibly 3 or 4 clubs battling for the 3rd place playoff spot.

I was at the Waterford, Fingal game. Wind ruined it. It was a game of two halves. Fingal had the upper hand in the first half with Waterford on top in the second. Blues went 1 up in 87th min but conceded almost straight away. Both teams had a lot of new faces and both will take time to gel.
We look like we will struggle to score without a recognised goalscorer in the side. Other than that we are fairly solid. Fingal look like they need 3 or 4 games and then we can judge them but looking at them on paper they should justify the favourites tag.

As it has, every single football match ever held in the RSC.

Hoping Willie John Kiely will produce the goods this season. Had loads of ability as a young player before he left for Aberdeen but was slow to settle in to League of Ireland football on his return. I would still like to see a big experienced striker up front with him or Grincell.

I thought the quality and determination from the blues and fingal players was fantastic! I really enjoyed the game apart from the feckin wind! and the low ish attendance! should be a good season xD

Twas indeed. As above the Wind & rain ruined it but it was exciting stuff I have to say. If we even get a draw in Ballybofey on Friday night then it will make the game against Kildare the following week that bit more exciting.
