I know some of you hate it but I do also know that some fans find it very useful so was wondering if every club that has a twitter page could post their link up so that they can all be connected. Think it would be handy for updates etc at matches.

Ours is www.twitter.com/MonaghanUtdFC if anyone wants to follow us!

I dont think you can verify your phone on twitter if you are pay as you go.

So no bill phone no twitter txts to your phone.

Anyone who updates twitter in ireland might want to look at www.agtweet.com

It gives you an Irish number (your choice of vodafone or meteor) to send updates to. I used it earlier and it worked fine. Was recommended to me from a guy who's super conscious about security

Can I ask a potentially stupid question? What is the point of Twitter, as distinct from official club websites etc?

It's just easier to post updates on twitter than on a club website. I have no idea how to go about putting game updates on the official site but it's very simple to do so on my phone on twitter. It's also possible to follow loads of clubs and they all come up on the same page rather than looking through 22 different websites.

I've done it once, but it does involve bringing your laptop to games and hoping it has enough battery left. And that the internet works.

We've done it just the past 2 games, but in our case there's really not a lot of call for it, as the away games are covered online and over the airwaves by the local station, and most people who're interested are at the home ones anyway.
But for those who can't make the home games but are online for some reason, or for away games that aren't covered (midweek usually, or when the hurlers get started) it should be useful, plus you can arrange to have the updates texted to your phone too, though there is an hourly limit on texts it seems (that may be a mobile company issue though).

Plus then for those who like to have info coming in from a load of games it's also very handy. And certainly from my point of view it's much easier to update in nearly real-time than the club site.
