We have a new weiner!
Incidentally, I can confirm that, having googled Ms Byrne, I've never seen her down the Bowl for any games. Not that that's necessarily a criterion to be on the ad, of course.

As if there weren't enough good reasons to go to the Bowl tonight.

In all seriousness though. Could they not have got Celebs who actually do support LOI football behind this campaign. I find it a bit annoying that the got Claire Byrne and Tom Dunne (who knows nothing outside of Man U - not even the rest of the premiership) to do this.

I know what you mean, was thinking the same thing when I heard Tom Dunne's ad. I know a few of his bandmates (Something Happens) are Pat's fans but I'm not sure I've ever heard him mention it.
At the same time though the ads are for radio and Claire Byrne and Tom Dunne are two very well known voices on the radio so they will grab listeners' attention, which is the main point really.

And because they work for Newstalk, who are one of the league's sponsors...

I know that but doesn't Micheal D Higgins do one as well, or did I just imagine that.

Dunne was talking about Pats last week. He creditted his band mate Alan byrne for bring him along but said he still pops down "now and again"
In fairness most of Something Happens were hige Pats fans and Byrne is still a regulr. He often wore a Pats jersey on stage (even for their appearance on the Conan O'brien sow :D )
I didn't know Tom Dunne had an LOI advert.
I hear him most mornings & as said above he knows nothing about football outside of Manchester United. He would struggle to name the Ireland football team.
Seems like they just picked random Newstalk presenters to front the adverts. :o

Yeah, he does. But he's chairman of Galway and goes to their matches so there's a proper reason for using him.
In case any missed these they are all on the league's youtube channel (http://www.youtube.com/profile?user=leagueofirelandtv&view=videos). Mark Feehily and John Creedon are the other two to have done the ads.

Dave Fanning- would have been perfect for something like this imo.

Caroline Morahan apparantly supports Bohs. Although she's really one for the TV and not the radio. :)

Wasn't there a thread on before about celebs who support LOI clubs. I'm sure there would be plenty on there.
Tom Dunne mentioned this morning that the LOI started at the weekend but his team lost 3 nil at home. Said something along the lines of "will eventually see me on terraces in the summer....I can't get out of it now...." Might have been in jest....
