Gavin doesn't favour salary cap

Fran Gavin has revealed to setanta.com that he is not in favour of a proposed salary cap for the League of Ireland. The FAI Director for the League of Ireland acknowledges the good work that the majority of the clubs have done in downscaling their budgets and applauds them for their efforts.

However, he thinks that it remains up to the clubs to ensure that they handle their budgets correctly and that they don't spend too much on players' wages. The FAI introduced Uefa's 65 per cent ruling last year to ensure clubs did not overspend. While Drogheda United and Cork City both went into examinership, it wasn't all doom and gloom for the Premier Division teams.

I'm all for trying to look on the bright side but to paint last year's disaster of a season as a positive thing for the league is like saying that 1939 was a good year for Poland.

That is not him. It is evil Gavin (as in evil Cartman).

Benitez was replaced by evil Benitez last year too.

You can tell by the goatee.

The 65% rule is totally sufficient if it's enforced. An additional salary cap doesn't help much; certainly not financially.
