Anyone know what was the first national league match to be shown live on television?
The first one I remember seeing was the FAI Cup final in 1996 with Shels and Pats...
Any takers?

can't think of specific examples, but I'm sure the FAI cup final has been shown live even further back than that.

First live Cup final was Pats v Rovers in 1967. First league game (AFAIK) was Shels v Derry in about April 1997. RTE moved it to a Saturday 3pm kick off

City league games live:
City 1 Pats 2
Pats 1 City 0 (title decider)
City 1 Shel$ 2
City 1 Derry 0 (around new year 2001?)
2002/2003 Shel$ 1 City 0 (Bohs won title)
