Anybody know what the prize funding is for the different positions for the upcoming season? It says on the FAI website that there is increased funding and it will be distributed more evenly

Bohs fans will know as their club have already spent the winnings for coming 1st in the league and cup for the 2009 season and getting to the group stages of the CL.

Every clubs final figure at the end of season has their fines subtracted from it, isn't that correct? So the FAI are taking half it back anyway!? 26% jump! sure we'll see a 26% jump in fines next year as well!:p

All teams get something this year, which is good. Massive jump in the lower reaches of the Premier.

Still too much of a gap with the top three and the rest in each division.

Id take 80K of the premier winners and give teams in 2nd - 8th place and extra 10K each and 5 each for the bottom two.

This kinda prize money differential only causes to speculate with money they havent got to try to land the top prize.

Silly, when will the league ever learn ...

The more fines dished out to get clubs to get their act together the better if you ask me!

FFS a few clubs didnt even bother sending players along to the league launch today and certain clubs players just barely got there on time. Not good enough!

But you have to have it big enough to make it worth striving for. If there isn't much of a difference then clubs will just sit back.

The clubs will sit back and not strive for the title?! Come on. Think about what you're saying there!

In any event, I think our clubs have been doing plenty of (over) striving the last couple of years, and should probably stop for a while.

As it should be. It's a competition, not a charity fund.

Philip Quinn in Saturday's Irish Mail provided some interesting figures on what the clubs themselves pay over to the FAI for the privelege.

10 clubs in Prem Div pay affiliation fees of €17,000 = €170,000
12 clubs in Ist Div pay affiliation fees of €8,000 = €96,000

22 clubs pay a €550 match match fee for the officials for every game = €207,900

Total fines for a season came to approx €120,000 last season.


A total contribution of circa €539,900 (check the maths?) by the clubs to the FAI.

I don't think the FAI takes the money for referees though. But still, interesting figures.

Thats much better than previously. Obviously fees come out, but a few years ago 10th would have got nothing and would have paid 10k in fees.
