According to this Chilean article, in the past 7 years, more than 18,000 people disappeared in Colombia under the Uribe regime. 7,163 people disappeared in the past two years alone. 5,507 of of the 18,000 disappeared in the capital city, Bogota.
It is reported that the mothers of those disappeared received phone calls threatening them not to report anything.
Extra-judicial killing and forced conscription are among the causes of the disappearances.
