Just heard on 2fm sports news that Mike Kerley has resigned as Manager of Limerick . . . statement to be issued by the club later.

That's one down, 21 to go.

Who will be next?

Even bigger now he's gone :)

Also, Galway can hardly throw stones at anyone for being a shambles of a club at this stage can they? (Not many clubs in this league can) Weren't you guys supposed to have won the title by now according to Nick Leeson and Conor H's masterplan?

hold on a tick... i never called limerick a shambles of a club....:o:(

i was merely speculating that perhaps you might not do as well this year as some of your fans would have hoped!

We will, we'll be pushing for a playoff place. If we aren't I'll quit the internet

Ah Conor H the bastion of sanity and fairness along with his sidekick Gilberto they were the best comedy double act to ever hit foot !

To be fair i thought Limerick would have improved this year but the same as every year they get a nose bleed when they look to be climbing a ladder. Expect another injury time winner to deny a team promotion to be celebrated like a proper trophy for the lims !

who would limerick fans like to realistically see in charge?

any chance NOC would go back personally hope not as I think he is a good coach for Wexford

The season hasnt technically started yet, its pre-season, so he may not be the first of the season's casulties but rather the last of last season's casulties.

NOC name was been thrown around yesterday before it was known that Kerley had even stepped down. It would feel like a step backwards getting NOC again but with only two weeks to go till the start of the season he might be the best candidate.

Tis a pity, Limerick played some really good football at Oriel last season esp the 1st game that ye won 2nil, Kerley did well to come across Gary Sheehan, find of the season!

He didn't want to sign him back

Club had to sign Gary back without Mike's consent, that was one of the problems

Are you serious, I thought he was a class act last season, scored what...7 gaols in 4 agmes or sumit like that!

Sadly I am. It says something about how much Mike's working relationship with the club had broken down when the club had to get Gary to sign a contract against the manager's wishes.

Not sure why he didn't want him to be fair, he's probably the best striker in the league

I doubt that Limerick will reach the playoffs this year with or without kerley you's have signed very little players. During the final round of games during 2007 and 2008 season you's improved getting some good results but teams like shelbourne fingal have strengthened this season and then you've teams like waterford ucd finn harps etc
ahead of Limerick

Wouldn't consider sheehan a find by kerley either, he played a couple of games the season before too. According to somone in the limerick forum kerley didn't want to sign shane tracey or peter white either, two good players in my opinion.

i can confirm that the club was unable to undo the work of Mike Kerley and were unable to retrieve Gary Sheehans signiture

Nothing the club could do about it, This was Kerleys first year of building his own team, he had the most of them you would think but instead didnt offer a contract to a few regs of last season such as Gary. Club contacted these players the min the knew of Kerleys departure (he never informed the Limerick based directors btw) but it was too late as some players who Kerley hadnt offered a contract to had made commitments to other clubs. Gary played for three years with the club at under 21 and senior level.

I suspect you'll be proved right. Difficult to see us starting well at this stage. Difficult to predict how we'll do even when we do settle when we don't really know what the team will be like or who'll be in charge.

What constitutes 'pushing for a playoff place' because I would like to hold you to this! :D

That's the thing. There's not much around with the relevant coaching badges you know... difficult to know what to wish for.

i can confirm that the club was unable to undo the work of Mike Kerley and were unable to retrieve Gary Sheehans signiture
and are moving even further backwards by signing Brian O'Callaghan

He has all the movement of a drunken rock going through custard

Hes a nice guy though and I hope it works out for him

That a good point about the coaching badges anybody know who might be a possible runner and have the badges?

So where's Sheehan going/gone now then?

The smart money is on Gary to come back to Limerick in the summer. With a bit of luck Peter will come back too. I cant blame them for going after the way they were shut out by MK, if only he'd had the decency to walk two weeks sooner....

I cant believe Sheehan truly wants to be at Wexford or anywhere else, he's Limerick to the core. Deep down we all know he wants to be with Limerick, the club wants him here, the fans want him here. Once he sees who we get in as MK's replacement and it becomes obvious the direction our club is heading, its a no brainer, he'll be back (and welcomed back with open arms) :ball:
