CTRL + Print Screen and paste [CTRL +V] it into whatever document you're using.
I apologise if that's not what you were asking, I'm not much further up on the techie food chain.

Sweet! It won't let me paste it into a post though. Is that not allowed or what am I doing wrong?

If you want to get the active window (if its not full screen) hold ALT and Print Screen.

Good to know. Thanks. As it happens it is a full screen image I wanted to get in this instance. I presume those saved images are saved somewhere on my c drive too?

Just to your clip board so its in temporary memory. You need to open paint and paste in the saved image and save it to your hard drive.
