Having a bit of a problem with this.

Firstly, I did a bit of google searching and found this (http://aldoblog.com/audiobooks/itunes/importing-mp3-cds/) but, despite being very good, isn't exactly what I'm looking for.

Problem is that when I open the cd using windows explorer just a list of the tracks come up- no sign of any playlist.m3u file.

The CD is opening and possible to play using iTunes (version 8). There's no "import cd" button that would usually be in the bottom right when you go into the CD tab.

Unfortunately, I have to get it into iTunes as I need to get it onto my iPod.

Try ripping it with CDex - http://cdexos.sourceforge.net/
I use it all the time to rip cds to mp3 for my iPod

Use media monkey to put it on your ipod

Download it for free. Works perfectly

iPods are the greatest rip-off ever invented. I wouldn't touch one with a forty foot pole. Get yourself a regular MP3 player and all your troubles will be solved.

Agreed, Zen (http://www.creative.com/products/mp3/) and you'll have no worries what so ever

My current ipod touch is far more reliable than my 1 year old Zen

I've had 2 zens, both hard drives failed in a little over 14 months.
At least when my iPod broke, it was because I did something stupid. Like throwing it across the car park.
