Any word on these this season?

I thought they were an excellent idea last season, I had most of my friends signed up to the Derry ones so even if they didn't go to matches they'd still be conscious of Derry City and what they were up to that week. (Even if they were a bit inconsistant because we apparently used a lot of our quota early on.) I had signed up to Pats ones as well and I always thought they were well put across too. Are they happening this season? Will the system be improved at all? They really are a cheap and effective way of reaching out to people.

I hope its not gone as a result of the sponsorship status change with eircom.

Eircom had nothing to do with it. A company called Webtext www.webtext.com made the deal.

iirc each club only got a quota of 5 messages a week.

Played havoc with trying to balance between team news, results and general club news...

Is that more than last year or did some clubs get more than others?

Some clubs had to use 6 in one night to report all of their teams goals...

ours started of great, but by the end of the season was practically non-existent. will you have to sign people up again or will it just carry on from last year?

I signed up for most of them last season. They just stopped coming after a while. Total amateur hour as usual.

Ours have continued over the close season with announcements of press conferences, under 20s matches etc.

It was revised down to two per week.

I think it would be a good idea for the FAI to set up one on the main league site for weekend results, I suppose you could always include text for games called off

then let the clubs have their own like last season for updates of matches and all. Of course a clear outline of the number of texts available and then deadlines for people signing up so that they can work out the number of texts they are allowed throughout the season

Afaik, anyone who's number was on more than one text service e.g. City and Cobh, was deleted from the system.

If ye mean specifically signing up to Dundalk texts thats odd as like Louth4sam, one today re Q&A with club owner and manager on Thursday, also one last week bout table quiz in Oriel, news on press conferences, U20 matches and youths results. Fantastic service!!

Yeh specifically for Dundalk ones. But as micls said, people who signed up for more than one club were deleted possibly. Which is ridiculous to be honest.
