So thoughts on who it's going to be then lads?

I wouldn't be at all surprised (or disappointed) if Gerry Carr got it permanently tbh...

i would be extremely disappointed if gerry got it. he could only do it part-time and wouldn't have the contacts to bring in quality players. he should by all means be assistant to the new man who hopefully will be in place within a few weeks

Hope not Gerry, Suppose Matthews will have his name in there?, along with that stanley collymore fella again.

Can't see Matthews being available for any club until his dispute with Cork City over unfair dismissal is sorted.

Pete Mahon?

i'd be happy with him but would he take it based on what's happened with our last 2 managers?

Plus i'd say he's pretty happy up in Dublin. Isnt he still in a job up there with the academy?

I reckon he's the man to do the job but as Rovers1 said, he's probably happy in Dublin.

There are a few good managers out there at the minute so i'm sure there will be plenty in for it.

He's not involved with UCD in any way anymore.

There's some Sean Connors fella, I think he's with Dundalk or something! Reckon he'd be a good bet, he's supposed to have good contacts in England and be able to bring in loads of new players!! Oh wait.....where have I heard that one before???:D Be warned Dundalk!!;)

Paul Cook please.

I'm glad Sean Connor is employed at the moment, less likely that he'd try and come back. Our MC would have no problem re-appointing him though no doubt.

Rob McDonald anyone :D.

He says he knows a great skillful full back and would be a great replacement to Seamus Coleman, he goes by the name Kevin Julien.

Pete Mahon said he's no interest in getting back into football anytime soon after he left UCD

I'm sure ye'll have Ski McGee and Des Cawley applying for it. They've both applied for our job twice and Athlone's in the past year. Not that I'd particularly suggest you give it to them..

Is Roddy Collins really so far-fetched? He's been saying some pretty positive things about us over the past year, and whatever your opinion of him, he has won trophies in the game.

If Cook doesn't come back then Pat Scully might be worth checking out.

Scully is a miserable git, but would be one of the better options of the jobless managers out there. Who is taking the next training session I wonder? Anyone know?

After he managed to fall out with practactly everyone at Shams he sounds like just the man.

Yeah, a manager who can run a team on a low budget along with finding and establishing young talent. Proven at both clubs he's managed and has always had a good word for sligo rovers. Leaving shamrock rovers doesn't make him a bad manager. I'm just merely adding a suggestion to an open thread. Maybe you could name an alternative instead of trying be a smart*ss.

Last season, we played the most attractive football in the league. Under Scully, Shams were horrendous to watch - everyone back and a big hoof up at a lone striker.
I'm stunned that anyone would even momentarily entertain the idea. I wouldn't let him clean the jacks in the Showgrounds.

Sorry you missed the irony in my post, considering the rivalry between the clubs. Anyway you shouldn't let such triffle matters grate so much.
