Thought this deserved its own thread. Will merge back into Economic Recovery thread when less current...

Mirian Lord Report for the Irish Times (http://www.irishtimes.com/newspaper/ireland/2009/0129/1232923372767.html)

DAIL SKETCH: "I'M OFF!" Two words from the Minister for Transport summed up his Government's attitude yesterday to discussing the economic crisis in the national parliament.

They didn’t want to do it. And what’s more, they were highly affronted at the very idea that they might be expected to supply some clarity on the issue. How dare an opposition come into the House and seek to question a government’s performance during a time of national crisis?

Call it arrogance. Call it ignorance. Call it avoidance. Whatever it was, from Brian Cowen down, they were a disgrace.

Not surprising but one of the most depressing articles I have rad in a long time. Confirms a lot of the thinking on current politicians & in particular the government. They are only just back from Christmas Holidays & the government seem to be offended they have to report to the Dail.

Jesus, that is shocking. I was going to comment, but I've blogged it instead (http://bluebeardrex.wordpress.com/2009/01/30/a-new-low-for-ireland/), as this si just an absolute embarrassment, and any properly appraised view would go on and on here. Incredible.

fed up with this, perhaps we need some sobering hardship (like the stuff that's coming) to take to the streets, this bull s*it can't continue...

I'm going to buy the franchise for Reeling in the Years because the comedy channel or UK GOLD etc will want the footage of this debacle in the year 2030 or so.

Eddie Hobbs could be right, lets fc*k of somewhere nice for the next few years or certainly until this lot are out on the fat pompus backsides.
