As of yesterday afternoon, if the Drogs got two points from their last three games, six from our last two would see us finish ahead of them. If the Drogs lost both, four points for us would do. With the Drogs having to play the top three teams, and us having to play Pat's (two wins in 13, and four games in the next two weeks) and Longford (after winning the Cup and four games in the next two weeks), I reckon there's still an outside chance of staying up automatically.

So last night was one game down, four to go. Drogs show how they'll play the remaining two games by packing defence and hoping - only not as well as us! We're now looking for the Drogs to lose only two matches, as opposed to three. Our goal difference is now only one worse - so if we end the season level on points with the Drogs, we will finish ahead of them. Possible surely??? Could this be one of the greatest escapes ever?!

I know our primary concern is Derry, but I reckon Pete Mahon should have the lads concentrating on catching Drogheda as it's always better to be trying to catch a target ahead of you than keep ahead of one behind you. If we go for Drogheda and fail, we should still do enough to finish ahead of Derry.

Rounds two and three on Friday - us away to floundering Pat's, Dwogs home to Bohs still in the league.

I hope Bohs get back in contention for the league to keep them interested for the Derry game.

An update to the above - Longford are missing two players for their game with us as they're in the UAE with the U-20s squad. And since Pete Mahon took over as manager of UCD, only three teams have gotten more points than us. St. Pat's are bottom of the table!

Well bugger that anyway. Doolo seems to have stiched us good and proper this season. Hopefully Kevin Hunt's return from suspension on Monday will boost Bohs in their dead game in Derry. 'Tis going to be nail-biting time again though. Fourth time in the last five years the walkman's been out on the last day!
